Can a Canadian be a part of the AKC?

If not, how does a Canadian breeder show a CKC-registered dog in the States? Do they? Can they? Can a Canadian breeder register a Canadian-bred dog with the AKC if they intend to show him AKC but not move to the US?

I think the answer is yes. The Canadian Kennel Club is listed as a club AKC recognizes. Here is the link with info regarding registering a dog from another country that I found (not sure if you've already discovered this):

Yes it goes both ways AKC dogs can be registered with CKC and CKC dogs can be registered with AKC. All along the border it is not uncommon to see dogs which are both CKC and AKC champions.

Yes, you can show both sides of the Border, but if you want your points to count towards a championship, you need to register your dogs with the other club. In the case of Canadian dogs getting registered with the AKC, this a very easy process that takes less than 2 weeks and your registration number is available earlier when you phone. Unfortunately the same can not be said the other way ... the CKC can take a minimum of 3 months and often up to 6 or 7 months to assign an American dog a CkC number sad :(. This is true even if you pay a membership fee which is supposed to expedite the process.

The AKC does not force you to pay a membership on top of their service fees. You automatically belong to the club when you join your breed affiliate club or local Dog clubs who are associated with the AKC. They have very helpful staff who can help you with any inquiries at NO CHARGE!!

Remember that if you show while your registration is still pending, AKC gives you 3 months to complete the process or you will lose any point(s) you may have earned. As previously said, though, they make the process very comprehensive

Did you know?
Since its centenary year in 1991, Crufts has officially been recognised as the world's largest and most prestigious dog show by the Guinness Book of Records, with a total of 22,973 dogs being exhibited that year.
