The link will show up on your My Account page later tonight under Miscellaneous.

In order to ensure that creating starter dogs doesn’t detract from buying/selling with other users, the cost of new starters depends on the breed.

If a breed has a lot of money floating around in it and 10 or more dogs currently for sale, the price can be quite high.

For breeds where there isn’t much money floating around and there aren’t many dogs for sale, the price can get very low. The lowest it can get for a breed with an average balance that is extremely low and no dogs for sale is $20.

You can choose the color of the starter dog by paying twice the price.

The prices will update nightly, here’s the current price list…

Ok, so let me verify. This means anyone can purchase starters now, regardless of if they have starters available, right?

Looks good to me.

So anyone wanna buy a few unmade regular starters - any breed, no colour guarantee?

I've still got a few of the old-starters left here and there.

This is ridiculous. I would have to pay over $700 to create one Cane Corso starter dog? It shouldn't be about how many dogs are in the breed if you are creating source dogs to help with the unequal distribution of COLOR. Wow, so unhappy with how you handled this.

Jeff -

Is the influence of # of dogs for sale affecting the formula a little more than it needs to?

Peppertree -

Take your current dogs for sale off the sales board for the evening and see if the price for Cane corsos will drop then put them back up after you get your starters.

Love it! This is a brilliant way to do this! I've recently started thinking about color breeding in a couple different breeds and the colors I want are totally missing, so I'm super excited about this!

Another huge Thank You Jeff!

Jeff,
I am not entirely sure how you feel about this or the consequences to making the change, but would it be possible to maybe change the purchased starter's ages?

I know right now, they are 25 days old for a purchased starter. I personally feel, with the money we are paying, that we should be able to get them at 30 days? I could be wrong in my thinking, please correct me if I am. happy :)

Not to be a debby downer, as I know this is a tool many people have been longing for pretty much since the implementation of colors, if not longer. However, the way this works financially is just ludicrous, in my honest opinion.

Why was there a minimum price set for low count breeds, but not a maximum?

$978 for a Bull Terrier
$917 for a Dalmation
$878 for an English Setter

Those are just 3 examples of how incredibly useless this tool becomes once you realize you have interest in a popular breed.

1st - This tool is going to be used primarily, if not exclusively by color breeders (which would need to pay TWICE the listed amount to get the color they need). Even if you are EXTREMELY wealthy ($15k seems to be the most anyone ever talks about), you couldn't even begin to afford to start a color breeding program (which will likely return you no money for a loooong while) if you're interested in a even semi-popular breed.

This is just... a humongous flaw in this system, in my opinion. I'm not sure if this is a not-so-inadvertent way of keeping the basic starter sales in business, but either way it looks rather disappointing on paper.

Did you know?
The sit for exam is a modified version of the Stand for Exam. It is generally used in novice level classes and requires the handler to order the dog to sit and then to move away from the dog the length of the leash. The judge will then approach the dog and pet the dog's head.
