Just wanted to share a few of the video clips from our most recent trials... Not sure if anyone will remember us as I mostly just stalk but rarely post. Doodle dog is my first agility dog and the one who had to put up with me learning everything on, from training to handling razz :p I started out very strict and eager for perfection and my crazy, party-loving, little mop of a Doodle patiently taught me to lighten up and run for the FUN of it! We eventually dropped our startline stays, figured out how to RUN rather than float around a course and retrained to running contacts though that took a while for the clueless Doodle to catch on to in training but she has yet to miss anything at a trial. Here's us trying our first USDAA trial, attempting the more internationally designed Masters Challenger courses and seeing how we do on taller aframes and smaller dogwalk contacts, plus one of her first (AKC) runs after switching to trialing with our running contacts happy :)
MC Jumpers (LOVE this run! Favorite run from the entire weekend even with nearly tripping over a jump and therefor accidentally sending Doodle out to an offcourse) :

MC Standard run (little mess up at the beginning but lovely weave entrance and didn't get plowed over trying to beat her past the tunnel for a blind cross wink ;) ) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N53ckf-URCw
One of her first trials with running contacts, and first ever with a turn after the DW: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-V_wwP-VjcU

And...

the baby dog Tulies happy :) COMPLETELY different dog from the carefree fun loving Doodle. Tulies is my little perfectionist, very thoughtful and worrisome and always wants to know the plan 3 steps ahead of what she's currently doing. Tulies really has been working to teach me to not worry about getting things perfect but rather to have fun and go fast and that the perfection will come with experience. She's been teaching me all about the need for information, timely and thorough and trusting the baby dog! As she gains confidence and I gain a little more understanding of what she needs from me I see her loosen up and not worry so much out on course. Granted as you can see from these videos that with the added speed my timing has been completely thrown off again and I'm always late late late on my verbal directionals (helping her to know the gameplan before we get there) . I'd like to think we're just on a learning curve but it's either that or I've just become a completely sloppy handler! Lol! I'm really hoping it's just a learning curve wink ;)

Giving all we have on these runs... even knowing we're still VERY green and surely going to make mistakes, which we certainly did!
Steeplechase (second favorite run all weekend) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JS2M16r0p_g
MC Standard (fantastic weave entrance for the baby dog! and third times the charm, shorter dogwalks and lacking in confidence created a few missed contacts for us but as her confidence grew over the weekend so did the quality/deepness of her hits) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2O-idRW8Lu4
Tess and I practicing *trust* and timing on this T2B course... : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iGAwGMUoDl4
One of Tess' first AKC runs with running dogwalk, soft turn : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CUZzNl6uez4

Loving our progress but still so so SO much to learn! Good thing I have some pretty amazing but fairly unrelenting teachers wink ;)

TCrown happy :)

How fun!! I've just started with Agility and still am not comfortable enough with the weave poles to attempt a trial, but looking forward to it.

You will have a blast! My Sophie Doodle is extremely reliable in the weaves but I remember that wasn't always the case... back when she was in Open I was running her like I did at home/class and couldn't understand WHY she would pop her weaves or couldn't get her entrance on her own?!? Her being my first, little did I know it's just a baby dog thing, laugh at those mistakes and enjoy the memories! Still there with my (now) baby dog Tulies and the ride a baby dog will take you on is one I don't expect I'll ever get fully used to, never knowing what might happen when or even why. Just go with it and enjoy! Will be looking forward to seeing your updates once you start trialing!

Did you know?
A specialty show may be regional or national. A "Best in Show" win at a national specialty show is tremendously prestigious, indicating that the winning dog or bitch triumphed at a contest which attracted entries from the most serious fanciers of that breed in the country or continent. Some specialty shows attract international entries.
