So I've been thinking about different ways to bring some SD money into the game and while playing other games it hit me. Why not use real money to be able to add SD money into our accounts. Like $5 could be equivalent to $100 SD money. By doing this we could bring more money into the game for Jeff for ads or better servers or what have you, then for us SDers we could have money for show payouts or breeding. This would help out the smaller kennels or breeds with less people in them as well.

Ideas?

I had also thought of that. Very similar to the new game - Show Rabbits. I would be up for that because other than not showing the dogs, and hoping that someone buys( rarely) a puppy, money is a bit tight. Stud fees are there once in a blue moon but those are rare at least for myself and I assume for smaller kennels as well. It would bring a boost to the game in my opinion for what that's worth.

This has been suggested before, discussed extensively, and shot down.

I cannot find that specific thread but this one was amazing, yet nothing was implemented.

I don't think buying quick SD cash will solve the problem. The economy needs a boost from what is in place already.

From what I remember it makes RL rich players have an advantage over others since they can purchase $$ and therefore get ahead of someone who can only afford $5/month.

What would happen by eliminating money from the game completely?

Is this the thread you are thinking about?

My feeling - the ShowDog economic model essentially works just fine.

The overall "economy" is depressed because active membership has declined however it is my experience that a little bit of financial management is all that is needed.

Financial management isn't going to fix everything- what about my kennel where I'm the only breeder in that breed? I let really have zero studs and sales- there aren't any other active breeders. So every single day is a negative, food and entry fees (I have to build my own points) and I also have to keep enough dogs to have variance in my lines.
Granted, I could just not show and sell all of my sessions- but that kind of defeats the purpose of the game!
I enjoy entering my dogs and being able to put Ch titles on the worthy ones, whether or not someone else is showing in the breed.
Financially it makes more sense to be in a more popular breed for puppy and stud sales, but I would hate to see so many abandoned breeds if everyone switched to that.

Even in the more popular breeds, I'm currently in rotties its hard to keep a positive balance. I'm currently sitting at $250 so I'm barely holding on. Stud sales are the main thing keeping me alive right now because puppy sales are non existent.

What about increasing the value of sessions? It seems to me that the richer kennels are more likely to be BUYING sessions and the struggling kennels more likely to be SELLING them. A higher value on sessions might help narrow the gap.

Another problem with people being able to buy money is the daily salary for people sho can't acoustic buy money will drop as the daily salary is calculated based on the amount of money that needs to be added to the game to bring the average balance of active users to $2,500. If people can mug money the salary will drop.

If someone is loseing money they need to look at why and fix it. If that means keeping or showing less or getting a second breed in a more popular breed. I only show one to two dogs at a time to keep my balance up.

The game is strategy based and making sure you manage your money is a big part of that. I have apso s in another kennel, studs never get used pups never sell so I got rid of some of them to make space for some cavs and have had studs used from them. If you pick an unpopular breed you habe to make an allowance for that. I only keep a few males to cut down on food bills for example.

I would hate for this game to become like show rabbits where you have to buy money to play it. Everyone gets a daily salary all u habe to do is make sure your spending less than that to build up your money without needing sales or stud use.

Just for information I have just looked at the salary in one of my kennels.

The average full salary/no sessions over the past 32 days has been $72.32. The highest was $119.86 on Aug 5th. There were 9 days that it was less than the $60 for selling all 12 sessions, 3 of which were still over $50.

Salary does go up and down in waves and you have to watch it because while it was high for a fairly long stretch, it also goes low ($45) for long stretches. By watching the trends you can come out ahead. Over this 32 day period, this kennel received $394.39 more than it would have by selling 12 sessions.

The Data:
-------------------------------------
07/20/14 Daily Salary 45.00
07/21/14 Daily Salary 45.00

Did you know?
At least two wins must be a set of three or more points ("majors"), under two different judges; at least one additional win under a third judge is also required.
