Aw, very sorry to see you go Stanza. sad :( I enjoyed chatting with you and watching all your progress, you've been one of the greats in the breed and you will be sourly missed. sad :( Good luck with real life and I hope you will come back some day, and that things get better for you at home too.

On the upside, I did manage to grab that awesome boy of your's, and I promise to take good care of him and show him like he deserves to be shown. Thanks so much for the opportunity. happy :)

Bye Stanza, I will miss you; mals will miss you. sad :(

I'm sorry to see you go Rosa Nera! sad :( I'm in none of your breeds but I've taken to stalking the dogs for sales lists for Mals and Danes to pick up finishable pups from you. happy :)

I decided to try to take the plunge and get into Mals - I picked up a few of your dogs (including a gorgeous 96.80 bitch, everybody else be jealous!), I hope to show that girl and a 96.75 boy. happy :)

For now I'll probably keep the project small-scale while I test the waters, though I'm looking into having Mals replace the Vizslas I've got at the moment. We'll see. happy :) Again, sorry to see you go and I hope you can get back soon! laugh :D

I am very sorry to see you go-I hope that real life treats you well and that you can come back in the future. Your grandsons are lucky to have you. We will miss you but will keep your lines waiting for you to return. Best of luck to you!

My first Mal litters have been born! laugh :D I'm pretty pleased with the results, though the bitches I have didn't produce anything better than themselves (probably because of my stud choices and the fact that they're stellar lol).

Does anybody have any input as to what I should keep?

The first litter was all male, but I got three very nice boys (I'm thinking of keeping the top two and selling the last):
[96.65] www.showdog.com/dog.aspx?id=14343587
[96.60] www.showdog.com/dog.aspx?id=14343582
[96.55] www.showdog.com/dog.aspx?id=14343583

Second litter had some difficulty with SS but I got a few nice girls (keeping top two and might sell bottom one):
[96.60] www.showdog.com/dog.aspx?id=14343553
[95.85/96.65] www.showdog.com/dog.aspx?id=14343549
[95.35/96.45] www.showdog.com/dog.aspx?id=14343551
And one decent boy who will probably go up for sale:
[96.45] www.showdog.com/dog.aspx?id=14343547

From the third litter I'll be keeping one bitch:
[96.05] www.showdog.com/dog.aspx?id=14344049
And potentially this boy if anybody would stud him?
[96.15] www.showdog.com/dog.aspx?id=14344046

Drake is really good at evaluating puppies-you might send a PM. My cutoff for showing right now is generally 96.4, unless the dog has traits that I think will show well. I will keep lower SS dogs for breeding, or lower SOP if they have traits that are well above the breed average.

You got some really nice dogs for your first breedings! They should do really well. Congrats!

Wow, I missed a bunch; really need to check this thread more, but I’ve been pretty busy lately.

Myths, I never formally welcomed you to the breed, so welcome. happy :) Congrats on awesome first litters, I went ahead and took the liberty of evaluating them since it takes so little time; hope you don’t mind:

In the first litter Soul Thief is the best with a rating of 11.8
In the second litter Words of Mist is the best with a rating of 11.8, but the best showable pup is Emerald Birches with 11.7, thought he boy you FHed was just as good also rating 11.7
In the third litter you FHed the better of the two pups, he rated 11.75, the first one Dark Abyss is 11.65

These rating are over the average of 10.4, making all of these pups Supreme grade, which is absolutely fantastic to land so many pups this awesome in your first litters. All should finish without trouble. No pups from the first two litters are under 11.7. These pups are very close in quality to the top showing dogs in the breed right now.

Oh and, congrats on all of this successful trait breeding guys! laugh :D SKL, your line is amazing and it’s very clear your hard work has paid off; I never thought I’d see tens sticking in the show lines like this. It will be interesting to see how they do out there. And huge congrats on that 10 size boy CS, he is absolutely gorgeous! :o Will be very exciting to see if he can pass that along or not, and also how he stacks up to the completion considering most dogs out there have a 9.7 size. That hq though…

Wow! Congrats HWK! laugh :D I’d pay to see that litter, she’s very gorgeous! I wish I could take credit for my 96.9% boy, but I can’t, because I didn’t breed him. No doubt that’d be a match made in heaven though. happy :) I can’t wait to see what he can produce though. Your girl is actually nicer than him though. wink ;)

As for me, I have reduced most of my stud fees as well as added a bunch of new studs.

Thank you so much for the analysis Drake! I just put Soul Thief on sessions according to that, unfortunately at the moment I'm still just basing my judgement off of SOP since I don't know what to look for yet. happy :)

HWK - Wow, that's a stunning girl you have there! :o I look forward to seeing how a breeding might turn out from that pair as well. wink ;)

Did you know?
In the American Kennel Club, a dog needs 15 points to become a Champion, with each win gaining anywhere from zero to five points depending on the number of dogs competing and the area where the show is held.
