will a dog still receive a merit award if it is forever homed before its offspring finish their CH?

I'm 99.99% sure they will, as the pups are still from them and that title is no less theirs even if they are no longer showing. happy :)

They will get the award but you won't get an email regarding it, so you'll have to check on the dog's title yourself to make sure.

I know there was a discussion on this in the past, about announcing merit dogs in the forums instead of GCH's. Is there any thoughts on this now? Especially since it's much more difficult to get a merit dog then GCH. Some breeds haven't had merit dogs in years....
