Updated SOP Calculator Thread:

I wanted to have a post that we could BUMP when it gets moved off the first page of the Forum that has the easiest methods for calculating SOP when you have a dog born with low ShowShine.

Two of the easiest methods I've come across:

Provided by Almost Heaven:

20-SS then divide the result by 2 and add to current SOP.

Example 97.3 with SS of 18.4

20-18.4= 1.6
1.6/2 = .8
97.3 + .8 = 98.1

Same as above SOP is 50 with a SS of 19.5

20-19.5 = .5
.5/2 = .25
50 + .25 = 50.25

And the same method written slightly differently:

Provided by Drake Creek Meadows:

The easiest version of that formula:

20 - your dogs SS = number/2 = number + your dogs SOP = equals adjusted SOP

It takes 2 seconds on a calculator. happy :)

EG: SOP of 91.90 with a SS of 18.8 =
20-18.8 = 1.2 / 2 = 0.6.
0.6 + 91.90 = 92.50 %

Does this apply for breed specific sop? I noticed all pups now show their generic sop, or is that breed specific sop?

I just add 0.5 to the SOP for every point the SS is under 20.

For instance, for an SS of 18.0 I would add 1 to the SOP

For an SS of 19.0 I would add 0.5 to the SOP.

It's pretty simple until you get into the 16s or 17s (although 17.0 is pretty easy, you add 1.5 to the SOP).

The Kennel Club (UK) system, which is also used by the Australian National Kennel Council[1] and in other countries, is considered the most difficult to earn a title under.
