First you need to see if a judge is one who likes handlers or not. If they do like handlers you then need to see how political they are. If they are political your best off picking a higher ranked handler who the judge also likes.

The handler ranking list is how well the handler has been doing so the one ranked 1 is the best currently, so how good they are, where as the smaller handler list of the judges page is of handlers that Judge likes the most.

So a not political judge you can go more for ranking, with a political judge you should also consider who the judge likes depending on how political they are.

So when u click pick handler on your dogs show info page you sill have the list of all the handlers advaible to your dog and the small judge pref list next to it. The names on that list will have the handlers ranking number next to each name.

For example:

Lets look at Alexander Crossland.

He isn't particularly political.

If you look at his page you can see the list of handlers he 'likes':

www.showdog.com/shows/judge_info.aspx?judge=Alexander+Crossland

Its in order of 'favouritism' - so he likes Kevin the most, then Cliff, then Erik etc.

However - none of those handlers are good lol.

Thats when you look at the Handlers list:

www.showdog.com/shows/Handlers/handler_rankings.aspx

This list is in order of how good they are. So Ellen is the best handler, then Roxanne, then Veronica etc.

You want to look at each judge and see which are the top ranking handlers on their 'list of favourite handlers'.

So - for Alexander Crossland his best handlers are:

Maret
Julie
Jos
Tod
Jene
Huntert

And thats because they rank the best on his favourites list. Its easier to see when you are actually entering a dog and click on the show you want to enter - as you will be given a list of all the available handlers, and then on the right hand side of the page you get the list of the judges favourite handlers and THIS list will have a number beside each handler that says who is currently the bes tot pick. The ones closest to #1 are the best. (IE: I wouldn't pick a handler that is higher than #25 as they suck lol) So you want to pick handlers numbered between #1-#24 in this list.

Although the handlers do change gradually day-to-day they really don't change that dramatically. Ive been playing this game for nearly 10 years and the majority of the judges have all kept the same 'favourite' and 'top' handlers.

Most long-term players create a list on Excel or Word (or any other program) that has a list of all the judges and then a list of all their favourite handlers to make entering large numbers of dogs a hell of a lot easier lol.

For me, and a number of other long-term SD'ers we have mostly got them all memorized anyway lol!

(It's a side effect of the SD addiction you see? :P )

Hope this makes sense happy :)

Did you know?
In multi-breed and all-breed shows, the winners of all breeds within the kennel club's breed Groups then compete for Group placements.
