I know 20SS is optimal but will anything with a slightly lower SS finish if the other stats are good? What is the lowest SS you would show or have won with?

It really depends on the breed. happy :) Personally I'm finishing a Malamute girl on my basic, she hasn't started showing yet but I suspect she's going to do really well because of traits - her SS is 19.4.

However, I probably wouldn't put a Pumi into the ring with a SS significantly below 20 SS because it'd be at a disadvantage since most other Pumis in the ring have high SSs and traits are generally pretty close.

On the other hand... I'm source breeding German Spitz; I'm about to put a 14.9 SS boy into the ring lol.

I put a grand on this malamute with 19.5 SS a few months ago

and I had a cavalier with I think 18.9 also finish a grand. It's worth a shot if the other traits are really nice, worse that happens is you lose the entry fees.

May no longer be relevant, but even a few years back when there were more players, it could be done. 19.5 on the top 20 all-time grand points www.showdog.com/dog.aspx?id=10935721

I finished a chihuahua with 16.4ss when the breed was slightly less popular, but I wouldn't recommend it.

I have a 19.7SS GCH English Foxhound who has gone 2nd in Show, 4th in Show, lots of Groups, just won a BISS and BOB at World. Just depends on breed and judge.

Like people said before. It REALLY depends on the breed/ activity level in the breed. If you have a highly competitive breed, low Show Shine will be hard to finish. But if you are in a less popular breed, OR can make all of the points yourself, it's not hard. The later happens a to in one of my breeds. Some people build their own points so their low Show Sine dogs can get points,

Well, I am showing a malamute with 17.5 SS right now-he just took a 5 point major over some nice dogs, and has a bunch of reserves. However, his adjusted SOP is the highest I have seen in the game, and his actual SOP is not too far below the normal finishable for mals right now. Will it be easy? No, might not even be possible but worth a shot!

The lowest SS I would consider keeping to show would be 19.5 but I wasn't sure that would be high enough. Thanks for all the input, it's really helped!

Did you know?
In multi-breed and all-breed shows, the winners of all breeds within the kennel club's breed Groups then compete for Group placements.
