Thought we might like a 'breed club' thread....

I also added a September Specialty - on the 18th
and I did notice there was one on the 24th as well.

I just bred my highest sop out of Panmac's very nice (and inexpensive!) stud! Also very happy that she's a tri rough, all I seem to get is blue merles. Can't wait to show her!

>>> VETERANS PARADE <<<
OCTOBER NATIONAL SPECIALTY

I thought it might be fun to have an 'extra' class during the October National Specialty. So, I am sponsoring a 'Veterans Parade' class.

I invite everyone to enter their top Veterans in the October National (7th.) If you'd like to add a post to this forum telling us a little about your veterans - Achievements, Top Offspring, etc - that would be even better!

The dog selected as 1st in Veterans by the Nationals judge will be our Top Veteran and will receive a $300 prize.

(Prize payment will be made via a 'payment pup/dog' - a dog/puppy that is being FHed will be put up for sale at the Prize amount. Sponsor/host will purchase the puppy/dog to transfer funds and then FH the dog.)

Edited because BB codes don't work! argh

That's fun! I entered a couple old guys in the October national.

I'll post some I for about them when I have a moment, once my baby is having a nap.

Well, thank you happy :)

I was thinking about some others too...

Puppy Sweeps
Stud Dog -
Brood Bitch -
Brace

I'm thinking we could enter through a forum post and the host could judge based on their interpretation of the dogs' stats.

Puppy Sweeps - could be any puppy 0-30 days
Stud/Brood - would be the parent and 'x' number of offspring - who's the best producer...
Brace - a pair with very similar stats

That could be fun too.

I'm so busy at home right now, between my little guy and my RL dogs, I barely keep my SD kennels running, but I will try to participate for sure.

I'd be happy to supply some prize money too.

September SD Collie Club Bulletin

I thought I would put together a little ‘Collie Club Bulletin’ to highlight our winners/title achievers for the month. I hope that it serves to promote community among the Collie breeders; in addition to highlighting winners and functioning as a record keeping tool. I also added some ideas for some activities/competitions/challenges … is anyone interested in doing some things like this?

For October…
•Top SOP: Is there any interest in tracking top SOP for Color/Coat… (ie: Top Sable Rough / Top Sable Smooth, etc) each month?

•Performance Results: If you have any obedience titles to announce please PM me.

•Activities: I was trying to think of some activities/competitions/challenges we could have…
IF there is an interest…

o Veterans Parade: for the October National everyone can enter their top 5 veterans and the Top Veteran will get a cash prize. (Details Below)
o Puppy Palooza/Sweeps: another Nationals idea …. Open to all “Puppy Class” entries: The TOP puppy – based on show placement or SOP (if no puppy achieves a Show Placement) wins ‘Best Puppy’ for a cash prize.
o Other National ideas: How could we work Best Brood Bitch, Best Stud Dog, Brace….

It might be fun to have a different ‘Extra’ for each month’s National.

o Top Owner Handled Dog: participants would pick a dog to be shown ONLY in owner handled shows for the month. At the end of the month the participating dog ranked highest on the Top Collies list wins.

What ideas do you have? Can be for one show or can be a week or month long competition…
Again, not sure if there is interest in something like this?

I love this! I have been trying to breed for color as I've noticed all my top dogs have been blue merles. I finally got a nice tri rough high sop www.showdog.com/dog.aspx?id=14333782 94.85 sop. Now I'm hoping for a male that high in any color other than blue merle.
I've also been working on some source breedings for color only and they are coming along slowly but surely. This is my highest source breeding so far. www.showdog.com/dog.aspx?id=14341368

Love all of this!

I think having an "extra" at the nationals would be fun, perhaps just one a month, easier to keep track of. I can likely provide a cash prize every month, this kennel is usually pretty well off financially.
Though I might need reminded, as my RL is busy busy these days, I'm running around after a 1 year old and 2 RL dogs...lol

As far as color breeding, I"m still plugging away on the sables, so if anyone has any interest in those let me know. I've got them just into the high 93's low 94's at the moment.

I've also noticed that the bulk of my dogs are rough these days so I'm working on bringing back some smooths.

Maybe for November, we could do a challenge amongst ourselves to see who can breed/finish the most champions in the month.

I can provide some cash prizes for that from my basic kennel for sure. That could be fun and get more collies in the ring.

I can do a couple specialties too, if there's interest.

I'm thinking for the November National we'll go with a Puppy Palooza theme?
So make sure you have some puppies ready to show on the 7th... (looks like they would need to be bred by the 19th'ish)

The highest ranked puppy will get a $300 prize and be named the November Best Puppy

Congrats to all the national winners! Proud of my old Jazz for winning the veterans class, I've been so busy I didn't even notice.

Any of the puppies that are for sale you could offer on for the prize. I'll use the money for a specialty.

And I'd like to offer to provide the prize for next months puppy winner too.

ok, so I was playing around with another project and thought... why don't we....

So, you know when you breed 'in house' we have a comparison chart, but if you breed to an outside stud you have to click on each one...

I put together this Submission Form

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/1VHT6Q2ZJchmWAanvoVLJRGBI16uteL2nWcU3wOD5F-8/viewform

> Shortened url - tinyurl.com/ofcf58q

You'll enter your stud dogs info...
(We can add other things if you like)

and it will all be compiled here...

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1qOuaMoQ9iKJxQXmF0edcGDgm_Wn0wayEw6JLV_ks_k8/edit?usp=sharing

Here's a short url in case that link is broken -
tinyurl.com/qz6ks7w

Then when you retire your stud dog we just delete him from the list

what do you think?
useful?

any other info you would add?
(I just realized I didn't put Stud Fee on there but I don't know if that's too important)

Did you know?
Since its centenary year in 1991, Crufts has officially been recognised as the world's largest and most prestigious dog show by the Guinness Book of Records, with a total of 22,973 dogs being exhibited that year.
