I'm trying to understand color genetics in Collies...

I'm confused by how there seems to be multiple phenotypes associated with the same genotype. For example:

Mahogany Merle Head White Smooth: AtAy CC SwSw
Mahogany Head White Smooth: AtAy CC SwSw

www.showdog.com/breeds/genetics.aspx?breed=Collie

Is the merle gene invisible or something?

Also, is "blue head white rough" supposed to be a blue merle head white rough? Or is there actually a blue color that isn't merle?
Blue Head White Rough AtAt cc SwSw
Blue Head White Smooth AtAt CC SwSw
Blue Head White Smooth AtAt Cc SwSw
Blue Merle and White Rough AtAt cc SiSi
Blue Merle and White Rough AtAt cc SiSw
Blue Merle and White Smooth AtAt CC SiSi
Blue Merle and White Smooth AtAt CC SiSw
Blue Merle and White Smooth AtAt Cc SiSi
Blue Merle and White Smooth AtAt Cc SiSw

Many of the Color Gene tables are missing columns.
It looks like Collies are missing the Merle table.

Merle is dominant, so if the gene is there it will show on the dog. MM will show as Double Dilute Merle.

The only blue in collies is Blue Merle, so the Blue Headed White refers to a blue merle.

happy :)

Did you know?
In the American Kennel Club, a dog needs 15 points to become a Champion, with each win gaining anywhere from zero to five points depending on the number of dogs competing and the area where the show is held.
