I thought we could start a thread for all updates/news about Portuguese Pointers!

Please feel free to update with anything such as:

Cool thread and many thanks. This is going to really be helpful. I'm just glad I'm not the only one starting on this breed.

I just breed my first three litters and their due is on the 28th, hopefully they're a decent stock to start out with.

Had my first lot born on Thursday and out of that got

Brown and White

Also kept back the two best males a Yellow (19.60) and a Brown and white (24.80) as a bit of an insurance policy, will probably FH them when we get onto gen 2

Have another load of litters due on Tuesday so will be able to update then. Then it is just a waiting game until they can be bred lol. I'm doing something similar in Spinones, currently on gen 4 almost ready for gen 5 (technically they are gen 87 but I take generations from my breedings so a gen 1 has a source parent, and so on)

If anyone wants to chat further about the source to good sop dog breeding, I'm happy to show you how my spinone project has progressed It should give us a good idea of what results and time scale of this project

Just popping in, no updates for me yet, my oldest girls are 18 days old so still another 12 until I can breed them for my second generation. I hate the waiting lol

That's why you need 15 kennels like me - then you never feel like you're the one doing the waiting - its the dogs waiting for you to finally switch them to adult food 20 days late, to be entered into their first shows 30 days late, to be waiting to go up for stud at 60 days old! :P Hehehee ... I'm drowning in virtual dogs over here :P

How is everyone else doing? I love how quickly this breed is increasing in SOP
