Is there anyone who was playing in Akitas when the color model was put together that is still playing?

I'm trying to figure out why the color model -
www.showdog.com/forum/read.aspx?id=265226&recordnum=20

doesn't match what was coded?

That is the same thread referenced by Neb - here
www.showdog.com/forum/read.aspx?id=379714

as what was used to code the colors - but there are a lot of colors in the code that were left out? (Coding is there but the phenotype was changed)

The original color model has 'base' colors of

Black
Black Brindle
Brown
Brown Brindle
Silver
Silver Brindle
Red
Red Brindle
Fawn
Fawn Brindle
White

(all colors except Black and White are also offered 'with mask' 'with overlay' and 'with mask and overlay')

In the game the only non-brindled color is Fawn - I guess I'm trying to understand why they would have changed the 'Color Description' for those genotypes to show everything as brindle? and no solid colors?

I have asked GaylanStudio to look at the color code - I think that there are some errors in your coding.

I have also sent a note to Jeff asking him to take a look.

A number of colors from the original color model were 'mis-named."
(All of the 'non-brindle' colors other than Fawn)

they appear to all be listed as 'Fawn Pinto' and 'Fawn with Black Overlay Pinto'

I'm not sure what the options will be on correcting the problem.

I've talked with other Akita breeders about this. The main thing I'm curious about is the dominance and abundance of brindle. IE blacks and silvers ONLY come in brindle rather than solids, or regular black overlays.

First, the color model that you have pasted above is not the correct model that was used during coding. If you go to the thread, look for the later post from Griffin. That is the code that matches what is in the system/database.

The problem is that when Akita genetics were added many of the code strings were mislabeled. I have sent an email to Jeff regarding the issue, but I haven't received a reply yet - so I don't know if he is willing to correct the errors or not.

All the code strings for the following colors are incorrectly labelled as Fawn Pinto or Fawn with Black Overlay Pinto.

BLACK
BLACK with White Markings
BLACK Pinto

BROWN
BROWN with White Markings
BROWN Pinto

BROWN with Black Mask
BROWN with Black Mask and White Markings
BROWN with Black Mask Pinto

BROWN with Black Overlay
BROWN with Black Overlay and White Markings
BROWN with Black Overlay Pinto

BROWN with Black Mask and Black Overlay
BROWN with Black Mask and Black Overlay with White Markings
BROWN with Black Mask and Black Overlay Pinto

SILVER
SILVER with White Markings
SILVER Pinto

SILVER with Black Mask
SILVER with Black Mask and White Markings
SILVER with Black Mask Pinto

SILVER with Black Overlay
SILVER with Black Overlay and White Markings
SILVER with Black Overlay Pinto

SILVER with Black Mask and Black Overlay
SILVER with Black Mask and Black Overlay with White Markings
SILVER with Black Mask and Black Overlay Pinto

RED
RED with White Markings
RED Pinto

RED with Black Mask
RED with Black Mask and White Markings
RED with Black Mask Pinto

FAWN with Black Overlay
FAWN with Black Overlay and White Markings

FAWN with Black Mask
FAWN with Black Mask and White Markings
FAWN with Black Mask Pinto

FAWN with Black Mask and Black Overlay
FAWN with Black Mask and Black Overlay with White Markings
FAWN with Black Mask and Black Overlay Pinto

So, according to the original color model we should have the above colors - but as the coding stands, these colors are not possible (they would all list out as Fawn Pinto or Fawn with Black Overlay Pinto.

Ugh it would be amazing if Jeff updated the code, especially with how many color breeders we have right now.

Did you know?
The first obedience title is a CD, or "Companion Dog", which is earned through competition in the Novice obedience class.
