I was just wondering if anyone can explain why this dog beat mine?

At first glance I would say it's a handler issue.

But also remember, the judge doesn't look at SOP - he/she looks at traits vs their individual preferences.

I did think that but I picked one that was preferred, unless sometimes it's just random?

You want to pick the handler with the lowest number on the judges preferred list. The mystique kennel had the "best" handler for that judge.

For this judge, you'd want Maret Gentile, Jos Harter or Tod Brubaker.

Oh....I thought it was most preferred Jos, Ron or Parker with Maret at 11th. Ok I gotta read that handler preference more carefully...thanks.

Where do I find the judge preferred list?

Session that dog's show obedience for another week or more.

When you are selecting handlers for the dog entered under a judge, there are 2 lists.

The rightmost shows the judge's favourite handlers, with the smallest number indicating the highest ranking (1 is the judge's first preference in that sublist).

So pick handlers from that small list with the lowest possible ranked number, then go to the other list on the left to select them.
