What triggers this? And How do I avoid it?

If you use more than 4 handlers per breed per show.

So if you decide to use 5 handlers on beagles for instance in the same show then you will be charged with the excessive handler usage fee. however it is perfectly fine to use 4 handlers on Beagles and then for handlers on german shepherds in the same show as they are different breeds and will compete in their own breed ring in that show.

Theres a link in the Help guide with more info happy :)

The charge increases with the number of handlers used.

Here is the link Dalkeith was referring to: showdog.com/help/topic.aspx?id=72

It tells you the fees for going over the 4 handlers per breed. happy :)

If you are showing against yourself, there is no reason to use handlers unless you are actively seeking group placements...

Did you know?
A conformation dog show is not a comparison of one dog to another but a comparison of each dog to a judge's mental image of the ideal breed type as outlined in the individual breed's breed standard.
