Effective immediately, four judges a month will retire from the judge rotation and be replaced by new judges. Both retirements and new judges will be announced in the Alpha Dog Forum.

When a judge retires, they will complete their remaining show schedule but will not commit to doing any more shows.

The new judges will be eligible to start judging shows as soon as they are added.

I do like this idea a lot, since it will make things more challenging.

I do have a question, though. I know Skipwall isn't an "official" site, but I've come to rely on it for helping find my dogs' best judges. I haven't been able to reach Skipwall directly on another issue I'm having, so I'm guessing she's pretty busy, otherwise, I'd email her about this.

Before I found Skipwall, I tried (unsuccessfully) to "eyeball" which judges might or might not like my dogs, but it was a slow and grueling process. Does anyone happen to know the "formula" used on the Skipwall site to figure out which judges like which dogs?

I'm not sure if I'm being completely off the wall with this concern ... if so, just ignore me. happy :)

i know what you mean. i just really started figuring out how to use the best judge evaluations for my dogs to show them. the judges that just retired are among my better judges. now i have to learn all over and try to figure out who will judge more favorably, wonder if all my dogs will rate even more poorly now. sigh.

While I haven't done it yet, I think it would be relatively easy to reverse engineer. It's basically adding a 3rd component to the SOP calculation so if you don't understand how to manually caculate SOP's you won't be able to do this judges calculation.

The issue isn't so much with figuring out the calculation so much as the effort with continually adding judges every month.

Hmmmm is this retire/new judge thing going to happen continually now or is it just until all the old ones are cycled out?

Just wondering becuase I have to make new spreadsheets now....and I have to start college...bad timing for all these changes LOL.

*sighs* I'll miss 'em! But I enjoyed being able to mindlessly assign handlers based on memory for each judge! LOL happy :) Seriously, it is awesome to do without thinking. I can't remember RL things that are "supposed" to be "important" very well, but by God I can tell you the top handlers for each of the judges in a heart beat, and go down the line!

As long as I remember to exercise and feed the dogs in RL, I'm good to go. Not at the same time though, that's grounds for bloating!

Updating shouldn't be hard at all since I don't put all the handlers on the judge's list on my pages.

I have always liked most the ideas Jeff has come up with. This one I really like. I hope though the judge recycling will stop for a while after the old ones have been cycled out. For A while not forever. (maybe six months then start again with the oldest ones)
Give us a chance to work a bit before shaking things up again.
