We switched to Science Diet on our vets recommendation after Ripley had some stomach issues but I'm really not impressed with it. Jinx and Ripley have horrible gas, they poop a lot, and I just feel like it's not worth what I'm paying for it.

I want something holistic/organic. I fed Ripley Blue Buffalo for awhile and really liked it but I wanted some other foods to look at. I would need to be able to buy it at petsmart or something that could be available at a local feed store. I was also taking a look at Taste of the Wild. Any recommedations?

I use to feed all three of my Golden Retrievers Blue Buffalo Fish and Sweet Potato. They are now on Fromm Four Star Pork and Apple Sauce they are doing excellent on it.

Perhaps check out dogfoodanalysis.com, and also check prices at petfooddirect.com just for info and price approximations.

Just to name a few others to consider:

Wellness
Wellness Core
Holistic Select(Eagle Pack, now owned by Welpet)
California Natural
Innova
Fromm
Natures Variety
Evo
Chicken Soup for the Soul

Also, really depends on what Ripley's issues were with his stomach. I would choose based on his needs. TOTW is a decent food but it is grain free and does not work well for all dogs. A few of the others listed above are grain free too.

In my area I can get the Wellness, Wellness Core, Holistic Select and the Innova at my local Feed/Farm Supply store. Many others I can snag within a reasonable distance from where I live at a Premium Pet Feed Supply Store.

There are so many to choose from that sometimes it is really difficult to find what works for each individual dog. Best of luck in your search.

I've heard Orijen is good, and it's decently priced at my local feed store.

Might be something to consider.

Ask any Vet, the majority will recommend Science Diet/Hills. We have had good luck with Wellness, don't use the Core. To me the results are the same and all you are getting is a higher priced food.

It's all for the breed, Weims.

Thanks, I'll take a look at these.

Ripley had an infection and was on a prescription diet and had some pills for awhile. It was about a week after we brought Jinx home so it's been cleared up for awhile now.
