Okay, I want to try obedience and I have a few questions:

What traits matter most in obedience?

What is the highest award you can get if your dog has competed enough?

What breed should I use? lol

Highest you can get is a UD. Any breed will due, but I found that my Golden Retriever sessioned MUCH faster than my Cresteds or Lowchen do.

Sessioning from Day 0 makes a HUGE difference. Typical obedience breeds also train up faster than others. Good luck!

Some of the smartest breeds in real life are Border Collies and Poodles, where as Afghan Hounds have been called the dumbest(this is just based on info i read, dunno if the whole Afghan thing is true or not...depends on the dog i think lol)wink ;)

Did you know?
The sit for exam is a modified version of the Stand for Exam. It is generally used in novice level classes and requires the handler to order the dog to sit and then to move away from the dog the length of the leash. The judge will then approach the dog and pet the dog's head.
