lol I was watching tv and then all of a sudden I felt a huge shake! I thought it was just a huge truck passing by, but my mom yelled "goto the hallway!" It was a 5.4 earthquake. All I have to say is wow.I was scared to death! Anyone else feel it?This really only applies to people in Cali, but I was just wondering about your experience with the earthquake that hit.

What do you have to do during an earthquake? |

I usually rush to the hall, but a more safe decision is to go under a table and cover your head with your hands. I had too many thoughts running through my head at the time to go under the table, though. It is safe to stay inside for the day, since there might be aftershocks days, weeks, and sometimes even months after the earthquakes. ~HP08~ |

quoteThey've actually looked at buildings with tables [chairs, pianos, etc] and they have noticed that being next to the thing that is standing actually has a safe triangle where a person could live. Obviously a certain amount of weight on whatever you are laying next to will eventually cause it collapse. People that looked at buildings that had collapsed saw that desks and whatever else people are usually told to hide under had collapsed and would have killed whoever was under them. Now if we have an earthquake, I will be laying next to whatever I can. ![]() |

answering after the fact but yes I felt it, was at work and emailed a few when I could that yes felt it and yes am ok, I am real phobic of them but did ok, normally beeline under a desk or someplace pulling a chair to cover opening without even thinking... Heard standing in doorway bad, better to be under a desk or something... Dane where have you heard is good other then being in a different state? I even think about that when between trucks on freeway thinking if anything happend at least car would have protection lol... |

quoteLOL Different state. Open spaces are always good, too... lol Being on the coast, I'm always trying to figure out where I would go... We've got a nice open field across the street from us, so I'd probably try to make it there. ![]() |

I live in FL and have never felt an earthquake, though I don't think they have them. A definite Hurricane capital though. ~Peace |

quoteI know I know bumping old post :P but would like to point out when things shaking you do NOT want to be running out of the house as most fatalities occur from things falling off the building (like windows and pieces of roof) and on people running out to open spaces. And yes quakes happen all over just some states (and countries) get more |

When quakes happen, I don't really think, I just react. lol SUPER old post but I wasn't the one who bump it up... ![]() I'm cool with projecting blame. ![]() |
