Allot of people think there dog is better because they are registered with the AKC. But allot of the best dogs are mixed breeds. like the labradoodle! They are great family dogs. What do all of you think about mixed breeds?

I like them. We just got a Beadle/Jack Russell Terrier from the pound. And she is so nice. |

The best dog is the dog that's right for you. Doesn't matter if it's a mix or a purebred. |

I agree but with a purebred u already know what size, how much energy they have yada yada yada. but in a mix you really dont know much about them. purebreds have exeptions. ![]() |

I have nothing against mixed breeds. A lot of them are lovely dogs. I DO have a problem with the intentional breeding of them though. ~Morgan |

this post has been edited 1 time(s) Those aren't "new" by any means. When I was 10, I used to go to those type of shows with my neighbours dog. I have no problems with mixed breeds, but like most, don't like the intentional breeding of them. When I get a dog, I want to know what I'm getting into, size, temperament and breed traits are important to me. |

I work at a pet supply store, and we get a good 500 people a day, closer to 1000 on the weekends, and every "labradoodle" or "puggle" owner/family that comes in wishes they hadn't. They were told "great family dogs great with kids etc" Im not saying they are terrible mutts, but i defiantely hear more horror stories than happy stories with the 2. Again as mestioned above, you dont know what to expect because they are a mix of two different breeds. Depending on which breed comes through stronger in the pups is what decides how to place the puppies in homes. But only the people doing the breeding would know. I dont think the general public is educated enough in dogs period, not just mutts. |
