...... ok , i have 2 staffordshire bull terriers and i hate people saying they are vicious . it is always the owner that makes them come out like that , the motto is punish the deed not the breed. the dog always does whatever it can to please thee owner , so if the owner wanted it to attack someone then it would of course it would.but what if the dog didnt want to do this ? the owner would beat the dog until it does what the owner wants it to do , please comment and write down if you agree and if you dont agree .

I agree with you 100%. I dont look here often so replying a month late. I hope you see this. Frankly when I approach a person with any breed I am most apt to be leery of a person I do not know. Generally approach dogs, but if I view the person as iffy I would not approach.

Have never been bitten and as I tend to approach any and all dogs, if it was due to breeds I would have been bitten.
Even those breeds I am more shall we say aware of? more, Chihuahuas and Chows, I still approach, just focus on dogs body language more then I usually do.

Have run across a few of the breeds seen as dog aggressive (staffies, boxers, rotties, pits) that were not friendly with other dogs when I was walking my sisters smaller dog, but generally I approach all and Maui has made a variety of friends.

All dogs can be vicious if they're taught to be.

Only makes you want to prove how unvicious they are to people. To own a breed people think are vicious or aggressive is a big responsibility to make sure they're not.

I too own a.......Well lets use the true breed name here......American Pit Bull Terrier and I also breed these dogs for pulling compition and for work around my yard and such and yes they are my pets and i love them all.

I agree with you it not the breed itself that is mean or likes to bite. It the way they are treated and what they are bred for.

If you breed a dog, any dog, for the purpose of maken it mean then you can do that. All it takes it to find dogs that are highly argessive in the breed. not say that i agree with doing this just stateing that it can happen.

Now as for Pits, and all dogs in general. If they where mean or such, then as a pup they would show those kinda trates like, timid, shy, nipping and the like. I have yet to see this in puppies form From this breed. These dogs are highly freindly, they are alway ready to please thier owners, yes they are protective but then what dog isnt if they think that thier owner or home is in trouble.

One of the biggest problems that this breed of dog has is bad publicity. ok i cant spell so bear with me here. Most of the time when you hear of a pit bull attack, they generalize the breed. It may not even be a Pit Bull that attacked. But the media and communities and law enforment, will classify these dogs as a "Pit Bull Type"

Most of the animals that are invold in these kinda attacks are not even pure bred. They are mixed breed, that have been mixed that way to be agressive. If you do your reasurch you will find that most of the time outher breeds are leading in the no. of attacks reported. Here is and example. In 1993 a study was done on dogs attacks. The Pit bull breed or staffie, as rank #5, with the Dalmation being at the #1 spot. Now to add to this, when a more indepth study was done it show that out of all the attack, the one listed as Severe attacks.... Now this with knock you back a few steps..... are you ready for it.... the top ranked thing that caused the most severe injuries where caused by.........Not a dog but the domesticated short haired house CAT.

Yes I said it THE CAT was responsible for more severe injurys then any dog out there makes you think.

so in the end of this ramble one can see why I am not a cat fan, And will alway stand up and fight for the right of the BIG BAD BULLY DOGS.
