Still cant work this out, if all the figures are red, which is higher, 20 or 00?? Does it change colour and go up a grade after the red 20 or the red 0?? The help article on this is no help at all!!

Those stats stay the same for that dog or bitch forever. You get dogs with better stats by breeding a bitch and dog that have offsetting stats for instance bitch has a 20 forequarter then choose a stud dog that has a lower number forequarter to start having pups with better stats each litter you have. Starter dogs take a lot of litters to get to good stats. I like to have pups from other breeders and raise them up to show while I am in process of starter dogs.
Hope this helps.

So a red 20 is the worst red score, and a 0 red is the best? Then after that comes the different colours moving on up from 0?? Im trying to work out how to.improve heads, but couldnt work out if 20 was the highest or the lowest I've got some bitches with each and dont know which to breed from.

Think of it as this...

10 is the perfect dog.

20 is the same as 0. It's just a range.

So lets say your dog has big feet (20)... you would breed it to a dog with little feet (0) and over many many many many generations your dog will get closer to 10.

Does that make sense?

Totally correct BarStar, with 20 (really big) being the same as 0 (really small).

I would just add, the best strategy for your dog with the big feet would be to breed it to one with 10 (perfect) feet. As that is unlikely to be available you want to breed it to the closest small feet to 10, like say a 7.

I hope that helps.

The bit I am still confused over (easily confused,me)is at what number does the colour change? I get that a puppy with green or yellow say head stats is better than one with a red head stat. But is red 20 or red 0 closer to the green numbers.ie does it go red 20 then green 0 or red 0 to green 0. Im having more fun improving from purse than showing a breed where they are all at blue 20. Just not sure I am doing it right.

Did you know?
The sit for exam is a modified version of the Stand for Exam. It is generally used in novice level classes and requires the handler to order the dog to sit and then to move away from the dog the length of the leash. The judge will then approach the dog and pet the dog's head.
