I was just wondering what everyones thoughts were on bird flu , given recent events inthe UK.
I personally am not too worried and besides I love chicken and turkey and don't think I could ever not eat it.
What is your thoughts..????

Don't worry about getting bird flu from eating chicken or turkey. The germs are gone with preparation. And they wouldn't let sick birds get into the food chain anyhow.

The issues are if you catch it from a live bird (would have to have close contact with the bird). Or, if it mutates so it passes readily from human to human, that's what scares the heck out of people. But it hasn't done that yet.

Don't get too worried about it.Always make sure that any chicken or turkey you eat is cooked right through as you should do anyway. The sad thing about all this is the dreadful conditions those poor birds were kept in and this is not healthy for them. Also I would hate to see it spread to the wild birds because of this establishments factory farming.

I don't worry about bird flu because if it was that dangerous I don't think shops would take the risk of being sued for posioning or death!

yeah ditto. Here in Australia were are going through "THE WORST DROUGHT" on record. Major water restrictions and much livestock dying ect ect ect, not to mention the bad bushfires we've been having as well.
Sorry Calum for going off topic a bit here, but if you are worried about eating chickens, just google bird flu risks and I'm sure you will find ALL the info you need

Did you know?
A specialty show may be regional or national. A "Best in Show" win at a national specialty show is tremendously prestigious, indicating that the winning dog or bitch triumphed at a contest which attracted entries from the most serious fanciers of that breed in the country or continent. Some specialty shows attract international entries.
