Y'all, my name bank is OUT. I literally just named a girl "Granny." I usually name from books or movies, but lately I'm drawing blanks. As a result the names get crazier and crazier. How do you generate names?

I do this in some of my kennels. Pick a country. Either pick a major city and name after streets in that city. Or just go through and name after cities/towns in that country. That will give you a large pool of names. Or another good ones is paint names. Go to a website for a paint company. Go through their paint names. They have thousands!

Verses of Songs, Characters in a show,

In my Welsh Springer kennel, I was stuck for a name for a girl.
My TV was on and there was an ad for a TV series.
An actor said, Get Your Popcorn Ready.

So, I named her Getcher Popcorn Ready.

You can even find a Phrase in a book you like.
There are names everywhere.

I’ve been playing for almost 18 years. laugh :D

My favourite go to book titles is the site:

https://www.fantasticfiction.com/

Search for a word (Eg snow) selecting the book option instead of author, and you will get a lot of suggestions. I have been using this site for years, and have a lot of fun finding names.

Other sites to check:

www.20000-names.com/

https://www.behindthename.com/

https://www.drodd.com/name-ideas/show-names-for-horses.html
There are other pages on this site with great names also.

I also use google translate to convert English words into other languages for something different .

https://placenames.fsdf.org.au/
You will have to paste this in, I can't get the link to work.
click and drag to find the area/country you want on the map (it covers the world, and keep just move the mouse wheel around get closer into the area you have chosen on the world map), and you have a lot of place names to check out.

www.peiraeuspubliclibrary.com/names.html

https://www.learnreligions.com/list-of-gods-and-goddesses-by-culture-118503

https://www.fantasynamegenerators.com/

Sometimes I will do a google search, like for example "names with jack in them", and find new sites.

There are so many places and ideas on the net, have fun. I find half the fun of this game is naming the brand new pups.

Thanks for the suggestions! I will definitely be using some of the websites, and I love the paint color idea!

Did you know?
The sit for exam is a modified version of the Stand for Exam. It is generally used in novice level classes and requires the handler to order the dog to sit and then to move away from the dog the length of the leash. The judge will then approach the dog and pet the dog's head.
