heard about that on the news this morning, a 5.4 was it? i guess some places in Mighican even felt it a little. not here tho, not that i noticed, but i guess a place that measures tectonic plate movements in Grand Rapids had tables shaking.
hope everyone is well, and little damage done.

at 4:30 or so this morning I felt it here in Southern Indiana, about 2 hours away from West Salem, IL. At first I thought it was semi trucks flyin down the road or a train, but trucks and the trains never felt like that before. I hopped online to check the earthquake center and sure enough thats what had happened. Best wishes to all who were closer!

I am in the Chicago northwest burbs, and I admitt I slept through it as did many of my co-workers. I got a phone call at 5AM this morning from my friend who was woken up by it, teasing me that I am such a heavy sleeper that an earthquake doesn't wake me...but a phone does?

It is my understanding that parts of Kentucky and Indiana received the most damage.

heh, I felt it razz :p First earthquake I've felt before. I'm over in Northwest Indiana. I woke up and felt my bed shaking a little. wasn't a big deal much and I'm really not even sure how it woke me up lol At first I thought I was just going a little crazy but i saw my sister wake up and asked her if she feels anything (asked her like 3 times because she was so out of it... lol) and she said her bed was shaking, so by then I figured it was an earthquake. It was still going the whole time I was asking my sister, so it wasn't just a measly couple of seconds like I read someone say. Had to be long enough to wake me up plus during the "conversation" with my sister. eta: When I woke up my alarm clock said 4:45am and it's about 6-7 mins fast, so that's about right razz :p

Then, during english class today, I felt the floor vibrating. I thought maybe someone dropped something big in the building, or someone was rolling a cart down the hallway (not that i heard anything). Since nobody else seemed to notice I didn't say anything, but I was reading this article www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-downstate-quake-react-web-apr19,1,6404477.story?track=rss
and it says there a "second tremblor" (aftershock I asume) occurred just after 10, and my english class is 10-11, so I wasn't going crazy xD

From what I've heard there hasn't been much damages and no injuries reported really. Just a collapsed porch(but the lady trapped was ok) and some broken dishes and maybe windows close to the epicenter .

The earthquake really wasn't that big a deal from what I understand, it's just that the area isn't exactly California so we aren't used to earthquakes lol I thought it was pretty exciting anyway, but will be happy if I never have live through a bigger earthquake lol. I guess it was a 5.2 and the record for the area is a 5.4?

Hopefully everyone turns out safe, though I'm guessing they are. It's definitely not as bad as all the snow we had over the winter!

I'm in Fort Wayne IN (northern IN) and we felt it here pretty good. I was in the shower when it hit... wasn't quite sure what it was at the time though... actually thought I was losing my mind (but how do you lose something that you haven't had in years?)

Wow...shocked <img src="> In my entire life time I had never had a earthquake by my house. (I use to live in a suburb of Chicago) I hope my old friends aren't too freaked out.
