Been reading up on stuff. Some studies connect Cataracts with diabetes.

"Research has shown that eating foods that contain the healthy vitamins C and E, and lutein and zeaxanthin, may reduce your risk of cataracts."

You can’t prevent cataracts if your dog has inherited them, although not all dogs with the genetic mutations for cataracts will develop them.

Lutein can slow progression of PRA which leads to cataracts.

The main causes are Genetics and Diabetes.
Feeding a healthy diet, exercising your dog regularly can help ward off diabetes.
