I knew the answer from previous tests but if you're wondering one of the root causes for the layout switch, here's a test we're currently running on Usabilityhub...

I only post that to show for those that haven't been using the old layout, there's not really a question as which is more appealing.

I completely understand the resistance to change, it's human nature. I understand that it's hard to break habits such as how you used the site before. Please, just give it a chance.

Hopefully we're going to get through just about all of the snags tonight.

Whilst I agree that the new layout home page is more attractive I find that the new layout as a whole is extremely UN user friendly compared with the old layout. I wont even go into reasons, most have already been mentioned by other players, suffice to say my SD days are numbered.

If you read the posts and notice all of the suggestions that were made and then deleted because they were completed, you'll see I'm going to do whatever I can to make as many people as possible happy.

However, if you aren't going to go into the reasons, I can't do anything about it.

All I'm asking is that you tell me what it is you don't like about it.

It won't take much time, you can be brief.

I agree the new layout is attractive, however...

I don't know how many users are primarily mobile...right now I have no computer or internet at home and the site is blocked at work, so Blackberry is my only option for the forseeable future.

When I look at the list of my dogs on the old layout, the width is just right for me to zoom in enough to be able to read all the way across without scrolling back and forth. With the new layout, the table is simply too wide for this and it's easy to get the info for the dogs confused, besides being a pain.

If I notice other issues I'll mention them, but this one alone is enough to have me switching back to the old layout as soon as I log in.

Next on the list after updates to all of the sites is stripped down mobile version of each of them.

Thanks Jeff, although I'll submit that quite frequently I find mobile versions of sites are more difficult to use (or don't work properly) and end up going back to the full site.

Perhaps a mobile version of that specific page?

Sorry whoever posted that. That loggout was my fault, trying to figure out why the password is allowing users to auto complete.

Two others I noticed this morning:

Logging in also requires scrolling back and forth.

The list of dogs doesn't give the breed? Edit: okay I found the button for that. But I can't find my show results (think someone else may have mentioned this?)

I'm not againt mobile, my issue is not how things look but how functional they are. If it works like my current page then that's fine, but if it's awkward to use or is just plain lacking in features I tend to use then that's a pain. Same goes for the new site layout by the way, I'm not against it, I just need it to work for me at least as smoothly as the original.

When I go to the list of shows, the information bar at the very top of the page says CAT shows.

On a positive note, I like having the specialties listed by breed at the side instead of the former drop-down menu.

That was me posting above. My login had apparently timed out. That's something that I'd REALLY appreciate getting resolved as soon as possible. I'm constantly having to login again and again

When it happens, it's because I'm messing around with the site. For example, right now, it's because the "Obedience" link is being added to the left hand side.

I understand, thanks for explaining that to me. Does this mean anytime something is changed or added, everyone gets logged out again? Will this be an ongoing thing, or just until the new layout is completed?

When I change things that impact every page. I've actually got to be away from the computer for a while so it will stop happening until at least late Saturday.

Thank you for the heads up. I think it is so fantastic this game has an owner/operator that is so involved with improvements and reads and responds to so many members!

On the new layout, it would be really helpful for the SOP to be listed along with color, sex, etc on the for sale list.

Yes, on the individual breed pages. Maybe put the dog's SOP next to dogs beaten?

Everyone that's gotten frustrated with me for my "it's right there, why don't you see it" attitude can laugh at the fact that I didn't notice that was dogs defeated instead of SOP.
