Blaidd was founded in January 2008, by a showdog re-convert who was last seen in 2004 as showshine breeder Blackberry Lake. While BLake kennels (now deceased) had been a Samoyed kennel, from the start Blaidd has been all about Thai ridgebacks (with the occasional Alaskan Malamute thrown in to the mix!) As a new kennel, it established the then-weaknesses in the breed and decided on its aims as a kennel:
*To establish a fresh bloodline from source of Thai Ridgebacks
*To raise the showshine of Thai Ridgebacks as a breed
*To avoid excessive inbreeding
Today, the kennel maintains a high standard of showshine. The source breeding programme is into its 7th generation and has 50% SOPs.
