It's been 15% (15% chance for each one) since we implemented the current judge algorithm.
What percentage of new judges should be "owner/handler"?
15 19.29%

I think 30-40% would be better than 15%

Oh yeah; one more vote for more gender equality - plz give us less judges preferring dogs.

Also, I'm all for slightly more owner judges, 25-30% would be perfect.

I think raising the owner handler judges will just drive up show participation and activity in breeds.

Going with 33%.

30% got the most votes.

The "average" came out to 32.3%.

33% is a nice round fraction.

Thumbs up for this!

In real life there are many owner handlers, many of them breeders with more years experience than some of the pro handlers.

I too believe that this will encourage more participation.

I've explained this a few times but the difference is that in real life you have to learn to become an owner/handler.

On here it just removes one aspect of the strategy/tactics of the game.

Yeah, right now I am more annoyed by how many the judges prefer dogs over bitches than I am by how many owner-handler judges there are.

Another vote to equalize or reduce the gender preference - it's way out of whack.

Not sure what the % is right now, but maybe the % of judges who have a gender preference should only be like 10-15%?

In real life, I've never encountered too many who had a very strong gender preference and those that did typically favoured the bitches...lol

I think a fair percentage preference for it could be... 15 Male 15 Female 70 Neutral....

20-20-60 wouldn't be bad either...

I think the issue is that right now all but one of the gender preference judges prefer males.

I do agree that if we are to have a gender bias it should be closer to even.

Remember, if the judge is doing his/her job this should only come into play when both dogs are equal or so near that the judge is unable to make a decision - a tie-breaker, so that even 50/50 would work.

What would really be helpful is a "Owner Handler" option on the handler list that would work the same as not choosing a handler. That way I know that ones supposed to be owner handler instead of guessing if I need to pick a handler for that event.

Did you know?
The sit for exam is a modified version of the Stand for Exam. It is generally used in novice level classes and requires the handler to order the dog to sit and then to move away from the dog the length of the leash. The judge will then approach the dog and pet the dog's head.
