Hi

Can someone explain to me why the 2nd in breed in this show didn't get any points, when 3rd in breed did?

3rd in breed won best of winners over the bitch. The bitch then went best of opposite sex. 2nd in breed was just 2nd in breed, thus no points.

Forgive me being dumb here - but didn't 2nd in breed beat 3rd in breed? So shouldn't 2nd in breed get points beating 3rd in breed as well as for the dogs that 3rd in breed beat?

Not being argumentative - just don't understand. It is specials vs class entries?

Second in breed is a special - a finished champion.

Only BoB and Bos get grand champion points.

Correct, In the best of breed ring, 2nd in breed does beat 3rd in breed, however, the points won by the 3rd in breed dog were won from the classes by winning winners dog, after which he went on to compete for best of breed, and ended up placing 3rd against the specials.

Did you know?
A specialty show is a dog show which reviews a single breed, unlike other dog shows, particularly conformation shows, which are generally referred to as "all-breed" because they are open to all breeds recognized by the sponsoring kennel club.
