Lmao! I swear that once I happen upon a really old stud and he's way past the "due date" so to speak, the moment I go to breed a female to him in the next few days, he's gone. I don't think this is by chance. I've experienced this multiple times. It's almost like going on his page or using him for stud reminds the game he's overdue... arg! I bought a female who was ready to be bred in 3 days, forgot for a few days after, and went to his page and... yeah, no. :'( Lol has anyone else experienced this?

Maybe the anticipation killed him? Actually, yes this has happened to me.

I'm curious what the age of death is here?

With my collie program I've used a lot of 600-800 day old studs and they seem to survive for quite a while even after breeding. I mean yeah most of them have actually passed away now lol, but it's never been right away. Which is why I feel like the universal age of death here is like 1,000 or something, with like 500 being the 'okay you could die at any point now' limit.

Probably wrong on this but at least it's been my experience?

If you go to each breeds individual page it will have their lifespan.
It’s different for every breed, and that is the minimum age a dog of that breed can die. For example, if your breed has a lifespan of 13 show dog years, you do 13 times 30 (as a show dog year is 30 days), and the minimum age a dog of that breed can die is 390 days. They can live much longer than that, but *usually* dogs tend to die within 0-100 days of that minimum date for the breed in my experience.

IDK I've experienced it probably over 10 times at this point, where I go on a stud's page and then want to breed him and he dies within the week.

Maybe it has to do with breeds with shorter lifespans.

"the anticipation" lmao!!

Did you know?
In the United Kingdom, the international championship show Crufts was first held in 1891.
