Starting to get discouraged a little bit. I'm on Gen 6 and everything but my SS scores are in the red (either 0s or 20s).
Kinda starting to wonder if I've been using the wrong strategy this whole time ??.
I've been trying to mismatch as much as possible (breeding 20s to 0s).
Is this a case of i just need to keep going?

oh man it can take YEARS. I've been working on my ACC color project for two years and I'm just now getting them to competitive levels. If anyone has a way to expedite this process I also want to know!

Yep, am doing true source in American Eskimos, and like you, I am on Gen 4 and still all red. Breeding some 7+ SOP's and getting 6+ SOP's. It's like one step forward and 2 steps back....lol.

Gonna keep doing TRUE source though, breeding same Gen to each other.

True source breeding is not for the ‘faint of heart’.
That is an expression, not an insult at all.

My Welshies are not show quality …yet.
Winning dogs in WSS are 98.6-98.7.

I have been working on improving traits over the years.
Still, at this point, I don’t care that their SS isn’t 20.
I’m not showing them anytime soon.

If you are not willing to put in the time (years) …and I don’t blame you, I would not breed true source dogs.

OK I have a question and I don't mean to be disrespectful, but sometimes I wonder, what exactly is the goal?

For instance, I had one of my dalmatian specials used as a stud for a source bitch, all red numbers. There are only 2 colors in the breed and the SOP is 100. What exactly is the goal?

At one point I couldn't find any blue Afghan Hounds and I (and a couple of others) spent some time reestablishing them but that was with a clear goal. I don't see it with the Dals.

For me, it’s just creating True source dogs.
Why? Because I can

Breeding a source dog to a Ch isn’t Source breeding.
That will get you a show dog more quickly but if you breed that dog it is likely that those source traits will come forward so your dog is less likely to point.
