I haven't really posted much since I've been back on SD. Been pretty busy with everything actually. In the last two years I've lost three dogs and my mother, and had hand surgery, so it's been pretty rough. I just lost my boy Scamp in April, and the next day I called my old boss and thankfully she had a litter born that week. This is my first puppy in over 12 years. My other two are 11 and 15 (both were adults when I took them in). My job wouldn't let me take maternity leave for him, which I feel is total discrimination lol so, I used some vacation time.

He's a miniature schnauzer, out of Richlene & Keepsakes dogs. I've had about a half dozen dogs from the Richlene line (worked for them for 15 years). I named him Anderson (Andy) because I won the money for him at the casino in Anderson Indiana lol he's learning things super quick - I've had him less than three days and he already goes to the door to let me know he needs to potty (he's 9 weeks old btw). One thing I can't get him to understand.... My hair is not his toy. Keep in mind that my hair is down to my ankles, even when braided he can reach it while I'm standing. I know that makes it an unusual situation, but I don't want to have to keep my hair in my pocket all the time lol any advice?

Firstly, congrats on welcoming another beautiful soul into your heart! happy :) I'm so glad you have someone to enjoy after all the recent hardship.

In regards to your hair - I think you're going to have to keep it tied up and out of the way for the next few months - as puppy will definitely think its a toy - as it's fun to grab, makes a sound when yanked on (ouch!), and dangles within his view when you (his playmate) walks around. It's just too enticing for him happy :)

First, condolences on your recent losses. I can relate have just lost my brother and friend in February and my 15+ year old Tyler just over a year before that.

Congratulations on the new puppy. I haven't had a puppy since 1986 but I did get another dog very soon after losing Tyler. Baxter was almost 3.

As for the wonderful pull toy - I have to agree with Chaos - gonna have to keep it out of reach/sight.

Your puppy is darling and I do feel horrid for you with all the drama in your life recently. Have you considered donating some of your hair to the Cancer agency for wigs? Do NOT go through "Locks of Love" since I found out after sending my last long braid that they actually sell the hair and don't "donate" it sad :(. Your hair will grow even thicker and healthier after a good trim and you would be bringing happiness to others with your generous gift. Don't expect a young puppy to ignore such an obvious lure ... he's a terrier, it's an animal product and he's bred to hunt it!! laugh :D

Up until two years ago I donated 16-18 inches every couple of years, and never to locks of love because of them profiting from it. I did it through a group that helped kids. But, I made a deal with my boyfriend two years ago- if he kept his beard, I wouldn't cut my hair lol
Thankfully Andy is mainly bad about my hair during his hyper times - first thing in the morning and after he eats are when he's most active. He drags out every toy in the house and it looks like a toy factory exploded. He's not destructive at all, just loves carrying things around, and yanking on my hair lol

He is precious! I love Schnauzers (of all sizes!). I haven't had a puppy since 2006 so I'm of no help. laugh :D

ETA: Oops ... Didn't see this was over a month old. SORRY!
