So I'm working on my Gen 3 and running into having some potential inbreeding issues. Is this something that can be minimized or is it just kinda the way it goes? About to do my 2nd round of Gen2xGen2 pairings for 5 more Gen 3 litters.

As long as the COI (inbreeding) is under 15% it doesn’t affect the pups quality.

I have had COI of over 20 with no problems. Seems to depend a bit on the breed.

I do think the closer the breed is to 100 it seems to effect them less but as a general rule of thumb if your under 15% it will literally have zero effect on the pups so don’t have to worry!
Luckily they are vertical doggos and don’t actually have any of the actual genetic detriments that come with high inbreeding. Especially when your in a breed that has a severely limited gene pool/lost colors and you need to go a bit higher to revive.

I have to admit I pondered the vertical doggo comment for a minute - LOL - thinking about how some breeds are more vertical and some are more horizontal, but now I get it.

LOL

The Kennel Club (UK) system, which is also used by the Australian National Kennel Council[1] and in other countries, is considered the most difficult to earn a title under.
