Last year I had a poem contest the winner:
annemarie199 A Dogs Life Letter

Dear Julie,
I sat alone,
Without a home,
Then you came to me,
I filled with glee.
I came with you,
With a collar of blue.
I loved you,
and as I grew,
We've had fun playing in the sun,
But now i'm gone,
It's seemed so long,
up here I feel so sad,
Yet i'm So glad.
That you are now as happy as ever,
so be miserable, NEVER!

This time though the rules I beleive are slightly different;
1. All poems must be your original work for you to post it
2.All poems must be based on the theme
3. All poems must be completed and posted one this form
4.The first place poem will be placed on my kennel page (as did last years)
5.No fighting about who won
The theme this year is:Pets
The deadline is 3/31/09
Open to all.

3.Pick the 2 best poems
4.Copy and past the original post of the person/people who wrote the poem/poems

That's My Dog
His name is Blackie
He is Never schrachy
He Loves mashed Potatoe
He Hates Slashed Tomato
He is My favorite dog
He loves to eat a hot dog
His sister is a husky
but she is never musty.

The Stray
I was lost and alone
I was without a home.
No One Cared
Even though I was scared.
Then you came along
You gave me a hot dog.
You filled me with love
Like a loving Dove.
Now I thank you Every day
In Every Single way.

In honnor of my Dog Blackie who I rescued from the streets.

Is it like a lost smile,
With no face to smile upon?

Does it sting,
Like running in a storm?

Maybe it's like the first goodbye,
Longing for the second hello.

When I look up in the sky,
I see you there,
Among the stars.

When I look up in the sky,
I see your eyes,
your heart,
your soul.

When I think of you,
my heart cracks,
and tears soak my face.

When I think of you,
I remember all the fun,
the walks in the park,
and the evenings by the fire.

Someday, we will walk among the stars,
together

Your dog was so young when he died, and that is the best poem so far! My grandparents 15 year old golden retriever passed away on march 16, 2009.

Beagle Star

There's another bright star in the sky tonight
Shining for me with all his might.
You and i, We were a team,
Those days are now gone and i can only dream
Of the love that we shared and the fun that we had,
Just to have known you i am so very glad.
I cannot see the sunshine,i can only see the rain,
And every time i think of you,my heart it breaks with pain.

You taught me so much,my little Beagle star.
I know you had to leave but heaven seems so very far.
You'll never know how much i miss you and nothing seems the same,
How i wish that i could find you and bring you home again.
If i could just have one more moment,a hug,a kiss,a smile
I'd run through fields of green with you,if only for a while.
I'd treasure it forever ,but that will never be.
