Do I really need a handler? Is it better to pick one off of the judges list? It’s not picking a handler better or worse?

Good question. It used to work for sure. These days, who knows? See the discussion about this.

A conformation dog show is not a comparison of one dog to another but a comparison of each dog to a judge's mental image of the ideal breed type as outlined in the individual breed's breed standard.
