We don't rrrreeeally have traditions but... Christmas - mom makes quiche tarts that morning. Easter - we watch the Passion. Halloween - we do nothing or leave the house and go to the theatre/cinema. Christmas - we open presents + take family pictures if we have family visiting. 1. "Needless to say..." If it's needless to say, you wouldn't say it at all. This phrase cancels itself out. 2. "A bird in the hand is worth two in the bush." A bird isn't worth any more or less than any other bird, no matter it's relation to bushes, ever since the Federal Reserve devalued the bird currency during the Carter administration. I suppose there are ways to attribute value to a bird in hand, but I fail to see the worth of two birds, or even three for that matter, in any bush. 3. "Beat around the bush." Why would anyone with half a brain go out and beat bushes to avoid getting to their point? Trying to scare out those two prized birds? 4. "Break a leg!" Honestly, if you're wishing someone to perform well, I would certainly hope you don't want them to make a fool of themselves and fracture one of their limbs, especially in front of an audience. 5. "It's always in the last place you look." Nope. Not for me. I keep on looking long after I find it. Your five favorite historical figures! |

Alexandria ETA: The "beating around the bush" thing is good when you have something sensitive to tell somebody and it has to be approached delicately..."needless to say" (), I have never been good at it... ----- Last edited by Laffy-Taffy Kennels on 10/8/2013 12:17:59 PM |
