Yep -- I can see I am going to be in big trouble keeping the kennel numbers under control lol

LOL @ Aussiewolf That is usually the case with breeds that have a lot of colors to choose from. I chose 5 colors to work with hoping that would give me an incentive to keep my numbers down, but I've already thrown 2 parti's and an Isabella into the mix that weren't on my list of 5 colors.

My last litter was born and I got 2 cream sable males in the litter. It was weird because they all have the same exact SOP.

I got several pups that will continue the coloring project, but I am running into the maxing out issue way too quickly.

I have had one litter from source to high sop lines, and three more to come today. I only got orange sable and black from the first, and don't expect much more from todays litters.

But I have just bred two source to 1st generation dogs, due Friday and I am looking forward to them arrive....

Woops wrong kennel again!!

Now I am in the correct kennel. I am going to have to be ruthless to keep the kennel in bounds LOL

Nothing much has been going on over here for a bit while I was waiting for my first generation to be old enough to breed. I bred 7 litters yesterday morning that should be arriving this Friday. I'll have 2 show quality litters and 5 second generation litters.

I put 4 first generation males up for stud that will be left up for a few weeks.

I'm glad to see you guys have found some more colors to work with. I like too many of the colors and I'd have to open a whole other kennel to be able to keep all the colors that I'd like to work with lol

Have had three litters come in. I had to FH a bitch, and the faulty pups because she was having multiple litters (and she was a first generation girl mated to a source male).

It is starting to look as though, FHing the bitch, and faulty pups, seems to unstick the whelping process. I had a litter due soon after, it stuck until I FHed the problem bitch, then whelped about 1/2 hour after I FHed the bitch, but a couple of hours after it was actually due.

I got a brown sable bitch from her, most of the rest were no colour.

The other two litters had no issues, and I ended up with Orange Sables, Whites and Cream Sables.

I have two more litters due at the end of the week, first generation to source, hoping for no more issues.

The bulk of my first generations are now 28 days old --- almost there.

I have finally broken the game with one of my Color Project bitches.
Had to delete all 20 puppies and will see if I can try breeding again or will have to delete the mom too.

Waiting on the males to get to the stud age and will put them on for studs as well.

If you ever have a color puppy that you need to FH, let me know - or post here. Maybe one of the other players in this breed can use it. happy :)

No worries, what colours are you not interested in?
Any thing else I shall post here.

Do you wish you to know about any first or second generation breeding females that I may be about to FH?

Observations I have made after having a few of these litters in the past:

The cure seems to be to FH the faulty bitch (if you look closely she seems to stay pregnant), and all the "faulty" pups.

This is the last bitch I had to FH, and all the ones I have FHed have been the same - staying pregnant.

When this first happened in this kennel I got rid of a few males that I now think I could have kept. Ah well....

@Aussiewolf

Yes *cries* I Had to FH the bitch yesterday after the third time she had litter and STILL stayed pregnant.
I was hoping that I wouldn't have to, because she was high SOP for a starter.

I love my solid colors, that are rare these days. But will also look at any other, since we're in this all together and can swap.

Yes, any dogs are good right now. Because that way I can mix with my lines and have some fresh blood.

Miffed --- my latest three litters did not have much. I did get an Isabella bitch, and a cream parti male.

But ended up having to FH 3 bitches immediately to stop
multiple litters.

The annoying thing was these 3 bitches had had previous litters without any issues, so I had hoped for trouble free whelping from them at least.

I feel your pain...
I actually FHed the stud, because it seems he was creating the multiple litter issues.

I had couple of nice litters - coloring wise, but I am already seeing that space will be a huge issue.

Currently I got these colors from the project:
Brown Sable
Cream Sable
Isabella
Brown
Isabella Parti
Cream Sable Parti

Let's see how many I will be able to keep and run with.

Woops, many apologies guys, I just went through my stud dogs and found some I forgot to put up for stud duties.

If you see any I have missed at any time, and you want to use them, just PM me, and I will put them up.

I am now going to only have a maximum of three whelpings at one time, and organising whelpings to come due when I am likely to be around to deal with any issues as soon as possible.

I am planning an orange sable to clear orange parti whelping soon, hope I get some interesting results.

I have quite a lot of parti in the backgrounds of my next generation pups, so am hoping for more variety in future litters.

Good luck and stay well.....

Did you know?
A conformation dog show is not a comparison of one dog to another but a comparison of each dog to a judge's mental image of the ideal breed type as outlined in the individual breed's breed standard.
