I can't seem to get any photo (banner) to appear? Lost have been trying multiple different things to see if it would work, to no avail.

An image link always must end with one of the below:

.jpeg
.jpg
.png

The link you've used is not an image link; it's an Internet webpage link.

I uploaded the link to an image hosting site.

This is an image link (copy this):

See how it ends with a .png?

The below is what you want to put (without the stars):

[*img]link[/img*]

which will look like this:
