I’m a returning player. Was top kennel for GSD and Boxers around 15 years ago. I was around when GSD hit the first 100 Sop. I’ve noticed that it’s common for breeds to show 100 sop easily. So my question is what do you work on when the breed easily hits 100. Do you just show? For me the thrill is raising the Sop but have gone back to GSD and wonder what everyone else works on? Hope the question makes sense ??

Ah... That is the question. When Dalmatians hit 100 with only 2 colors, kind of lost interest. Afghans have a lot of colors but at some point that kind of runs out of challenges. So I will be interested to see what kind of response you get. There are some breeds that have not reached 100 yet and it's funny because we try to get there but when we do - now what?

I will never leave but it's just not as exciting as it was, I admit. My so called 'heart' breeds (Afghans, Dalmatians, GSD, Shih Tzu) have all his 100 except the Shih Tzu and those are slow going.

I'm on and off with Standard Poodles, another 100 breed.

It is much more difficult to determine who to keep, breed, and show. In real life, it's easy to see the minutiae in faults (especially movement). With the 100 breeds, I really have to focus on results, so showing my dogs is more important than breeding. I have had moderate success focusing on breeding dogs & bitches that have only had success in the ring. Since I can't "see" the dog, I have to rely on the opinion of our judges. Sort of like RL, sort of not...

Color adds another layer - I only keep whites, blacks, and browns, my RL preferences.

Lastly, I have always enjoyed the 'show' aspect of this game, so putting up my 100s against others and coming out on top in the ring and group ring is still fun. Or getting beat, I am back to the drawing board.

Toy Poodles are slowly approaching this. I am both dreading it and also absolutely thrilled. I know my lines and I'm not always right, but I can still determine my best dogs. I wonder what this will look like for me post 100!

To see if the dog or bitch is a true 100 or not. Also depends on if the breed has different color varieties for me.

It definitely loses some of its appeal when your breed hits 100.

When Staffords did I started breeding for colors. Now that I have all of those, I am trying to get them all up to 100 (getting close). Not sure what I am going to do after that, but I did take up a relatively inactive breed that was pretty low SOP, so enjoying getting them up for now.

I’ve been really enjoying breeding from source, and am trying my best to make some really nice dogs at the earliest gen possible!

Did you know?
The figure 8 exercise requires the team to heel in a figure 8 pattern either on or off leash. Generally two of the ring stewards will assist the judge with this exercise by acting as "posts", standing 8 feet apart, that the team walks around to form the loops of the figure 8.
