What happens after Utility? Is it worth still entering shows? Will I ever earn money from these shows? Anybody know?
Thanks

Actually, just wanted to let you know, Border Collies are considered to be the #1 dog for obedience as with many other sports. They have been considered the smartest and most trainable dogs for over 10 years! If you owned one, you would know that I am not just making this up. By the way, why do you think their popularity shot up so high 10 years ago? Its not just because of the movie Babe. That was only half of it. They where titled smartest dog!

Yes, they certainly are smart. I remember a Border that was in the Obedience School I took my Mini Poodle to. They were the top two in the class but the Border was much quicker to pick up new things. We were all amazed at how well she did the first time we learned drop on recall but the Trainer just shook her head, laughed and said "Damn Border Collies, makes her handler look good and makes the rest of you look like novices even though you're all advanced!"

Though that is a great guide, BORDER COLLIES ARE CONSIDERED THE BEST DOGS FOR OBEDIENCE AS THEY HAVE BEEN THE MOST TRAINABLE, LISTED BY AKC, FOR 10 YEARS NOW!!! THEY ARE THE SMARTEST DOGS TO!!!

So, if you are looking for a great Obedience dog, stick with Collie">Border Collies, not Golden Retrievers, Labrador Retrievers, or German Shepherds, though German Shepherds will still do great!!!

P.S. Why do you think I chose this breed for an all OBEDIENCE kennel! Listen to Shadow Line and for the best OB dog, stick with BORDERS for Gods Sake!!!

My Bitch has her CDX title and I'm training her for utility but her OB traits aren't going up when I spend a session with her, and if/when they do go up it's a very little amount. Does it take more time to train their last traits for utility than it does for CD and CDX?

I'm going to echo an earlier question that did not get answered. What is there after obtaining the UD title? My best Bulldog bitch (definitely a stubborn breed) has her UD title, but I don't know if I should continue to show her.
Is there a UDX on SD? If not, is it on the way? Also, is the OTCH on the way, too? It would be lovely to have something to shoot for.
As it stands now I'm breeding her, but let me know what the benefits would be to continue to show her in obedience. Thanks so much for taking the time to reply!

Okay - I found the answers in a post from a month ago. Sorry! We're still waiting for life after UD!

Thank you very much for explaining all of that. It really helped. My dane just got his CD title and I'm sitting here saying 'What's that for?'

Lol happy :) I'm pretty new to this game, and you've answered a lot of questions I had about OB trials. And I bookbarked this thread for easy reference. laugh :D I still don't exactly understand the points and how they're awarded though.

this was a great synopsis of the info we need to know. Thank you! Now.........I have this SD yorkie......has his cdx, not too much problem getting it, but just can't seem to get more than one leg on his UD. Sessioned to 20's/19's and one 18 still(those darn decimals)...but keep getting NQ after NQ......and CAN't get a look at his actual performance, the NQ page for the UD entries flips you back to the Novice CD NQ page. So I have no idea where it is that he is not "getting " it. Yeah.....emailed the powers that be, can't seem to get any info on this particular prob. Anyone have any insight? Am I missing something? Would love to have this guy titled to a UD, if he had finished his CH before too old(has 13 pts), would have been amazing.

Did you know?
In the United Kingdom, the international championship show Crufts was first held in 1891.
