Yes. And if we can choose the color and gender of the starter.... that would be fantastic!

Can't see any reason not to allow it, they only reason I can think of for buying a starter dog is for breeding lost colours, and as colour does not effect showing/breeding it won't give an unfair advantage.

I kinda like the challenge of random colors and interdependence between kennels to get good sources. If you give the option of being able to buy sources, it will take away what little income basics get out of selling their sources and thus stunting the games economy and basic friendliness.

No.

There would need to be an offset to this money sink. I'm not sure that salary/sessions would offset that sink. It would need to be carefully considered.

The salary is actually calculated to exactly match the money sink.

I have to disagree with this, MOST new players when they start get there starters right away and then find out they are worthless and end up FH them. And most basics really don't need funds as they can't really spend that much with the limits they have.

Crap! I accidently voted no! I did most def mean YES.

I believe this has been needed for a long time. If this were implemented, I would be much for likely to help the less fortunate breeds out. I'm not a color breeder, but I can also see this coming into use when traits need some correction an/or when COI becomes entirely too high in some breeds.

Thanks Jeff!

Do you have an amount in mind for this purchasing?

A million times yes. I like using sources to keep bloodlines from stagnating, and this would make that MUCH easier to do.

I think this is an awesome idea! One idea I had that might address the concerns about basics and such would be to have the starters be priced at...for example $200. That would give basics the opportunity to still sell their starters at a lower price, make money, and would also work out for people who don't mind risking colours/gender to save a little money. Just a suggestion though!

ETA: I do have to agree with Winterhaven may basics (including myself) getting starter dogs when they first join and then ending up having to FH them. I have had a ton of requests for starters this week as I opened a second family, so the demand for them is definitely there. A lot of breeds need starter projects in order to bring back colours, lower coi and for some, to revive their breeds. I hope this goes through happy :)

Did you know?
A conformation dog show is not a comparison of one dog to another but a comparison of each dog to a judge's mental image of the ideal breed type as outlined in the individual breed's breed standard.
