Hey,

Does anyone want to share the history of or inspiration for their kennel name(s)?

Mine is kind of odd! There's a chocolate factory in a beautiful city I once lived nearby. I started in this kennel with a breed whose syllables start with AG lol and the next word is inspired by the gourmet chocolate store's name. Pronounced Ka-rot with emphasis on the rot, not like carrot laugh :D

Excited to hear yours!

I have a few accounts but most have the prefix of Detroit (the city I grew up in and love), or Czarina or Regina. My first dog whom we got when I was six was named Czarina Regina of Chestnut Hill (not an official name she was sold to a pet home)- was a purebred welsh terrier out of Ch Czar Mr Wisch and Ch Czar Nora Jean of chestnut hill. Regina (or Reggie as we called her) was a spitfire and 100% welsh terrier spirit. As my mom used to tell us if you don’t want to get bit don’t bother the dog (she was my absolute best friend but also was a terrier and was great at setting her boundaries if my sister and I started annoying her lol). She passed in her sleep at the age of 14 and one of my current dogs is actually named Czar in honor of her (and our Russian heritage). There is not a day I do not miss her and hence many of my kennel prefixes are in honor of her.

Names of my 5 kennels (I used to have 15!)

Aldeberan - Had an Afghan Hound named that in the 70s. Kennel name for Koms.

DoggyPanache - Did online retail dog clothing store around 2007-2008 named this. Kennel name for Shih Tzus.

Fingerprint - Had a Dalmatian named this. Now Dal kennel name.

Tarot - My RL Afghan Hound kennel name east coast and Denver 1970s and 1990s. Current kennel name.

Xizang - Just found it looking at a map of Tibet (for Tibbies).

Those are my kennels but I have tons of kennel names for different breeds within the kennels. Usually I look at a map for think of songs.

When I signed up I was 13 and didn't realize it was for a kennel name. I thought it was just a username! I think this was my old AIM username, and it didn't even occur to me to make a new account.

Mine “Dondaig” was actually my real affix in the uk when I bred Gordon setters.
I have now passed it down to my daughter who breeds pointers.

It means Fort on the hill in Dundee in Gaelic.

Hebrew name meaning "splendor of the dawn." I used to live in very mountainous place and sometimes woke up early enough to watch the sun peek over them and shine into the clouded valley pinks and corals. It was so poetic and lovely.

What a great topic I wondered about all your kennel names thanks toni of willow Brooks a name that just came to me one day. While I was working in a prison I was creating a email and I wanted a name that sounded neither feminin or masculin it stuck and my prefixes are another story

I created my first email account long, long ago as a nod to an old favorite TV show - classic Battlestar Galactica! The name stuck for my kennel moniker. I still like that show.... laugh :D

Depends what you regard as your kennel name.

I have a kennel name, different to the games kennel name (that I regard that as my user name}.

Denkees for my keeshonds is the first three letters of my name and the first 4 letters of the breed.

My grandparents raised and showed clumber spaniels, and Roycroft is the street on which they, my mother, aunt, and uncles grew up. I have really fond memories of the shady Spanish-style house on Roycroft.

I played this game YEARS ago (20+) and it popped into my head a month or so ago... so I'm back on, now breeding & showing clumbers at Roycroft happy :)

Did you know?
A specialty show is a dog show which reviews a single breed, unlike other dog shows, particularly conformation shows, which are generally referred to as "all-breed" because they are open to all breeds recognized by the sponsoring kennel club.
