Thanks to the help of Royal Monarch Kennels who helped with the rather complex color genetics of afghans here is the list!

Afghan Hounds

Locus-A (agouti)
Genes- ay, at
Ay- restricts dark pigment (red, gold, cream)

There is no DQ in the Am Staff Standard. It says

Color
Any color, solid, parti, or patched is permissible, but all white, more than 80 per cent white, black and tan, and liver not to be encouraged.

The golden breeders have come to a consensus:

The only gene that varies would be the C Locus
CC - Dark Golden
Cc - Medium Golden
cc - Light Golden

Well I tried to get German Pinschers started, here's the tread I made:

www.showdog.com/login/Breeds/philboard_read.aspx?id=110744

I added percents, but have no idea what to use for the genetic markers, I would assume the same as MinPins for two of the three colours Germans come in.

I haven't had a chance to read through all of the posts and I'm not exactly sure where to post the genetic color info for your breed. I've posted it in our breed's forum, but just in case I thought I'd post it here too, as I see a lot of people have posted.

GIANT SCHNAUZERS:
The basics for GS color genetics is B=black and b=pepper salt.

BB=black
Bb= black
bb=pepper salt

RL population proportions are 75% black and 25% pepper salt, just as predicted by chi square.

That's all there is to it! Who knew? wink ;)

Flat Coared Retriever
Black - B
Liver - b

So black would be BB
Black carrying liver would be Bb
Liver would be bb

Majority of Flat coat users agree on a 75% black, 25% liver split to begin with

Thanks

griffin and Lilliput were so kind to respond to my previous requests posted here.

I am back to ask another favor.

In the development of the German Shepherd Dog coding we have attained the colors we, at this point in time want to work with, but need the coding to be completed. (I barely even know what I am talking about. But if you read our discussion you will become aware of our current need.) www.showdog.com/login/Breeds/philboard_read.aspx?id=110066&recordnum=0

The second question I have may not be as easy to help us with. We are looking for the percentages of what colors would be produced when breeding German Shepherds using the colors we are working with in our forum discussion. I have written a genetic expert on the subject but have not gotten a reply back at this date.

Thank you, in advance, for any assistance you may offer to us.

Beagles are in need of some genetics experts!

Although we're a fairly popular breed none of us really know what the heck we're doing lol.. I'm confident enough to at least take a shot at it but I'd rather not screw it up.

We have a great reference site:
clubs.akc.org/NBC/coat_color_inheritance_in_beagle.htm

If anybody would be willing to help please drop us a line in our breed forum or PM me.

Or, if you don't want to go through all that trouble, if someone would like to explain S locus to me and the possible gene combinations beagles can have for it, I could pretty much take over from there.

Please help! Thanks in advance,
Sasha

Sorry if I shouldn't ask etc, but if anyone could help Polish Lowland Sheepdogs we'd be more then happy!

None of us breed them in RL and as a rare breed, none of us have a clue as there's no sites to explain it to us!

I don't really understand the loci stuff so if anyone could either email me or post in the breed forum we'd be really gratfeul.

Especially as any colour is accepted =\

We just don't have a clue!

I'm asking for help too. With the Dogue de Bordeaux. I have a post in the breed forum. It tells the colors and markings for the Dogue.

Edited to add:

Thanks to ShelGrace for the help, hopefully I'll be able to post the DDB on here, soon.

Did you know?
The figure 8 exercise requires the team to heel in a figure 8 pattern either on or off leash. Generally two of the ring stewards will assist the judge with this exercise by acting as "posts", standing 8 feet apart, that the team walks around to form the loops of the figure 8.
