Hi All,

I've added this as a communal thread for our breed.

Hopefully with the recent addition of some new players (including myself) the Keeshond breed can become a community again, with improved show entries!

Please feel free to post anything here including brags, requests, show results etc happy :)

I'm curious as to what each kennel's highest SOP dog is?

Wish I knew we were getting this influx of new players, maybe I'd have them sessioned! Lol.

If anyone needs any stock let me know!

Congrats on the above accomplishments.

I have been in Keeshonds since early this year and have enjoyed them, but up until a few weeks ago nearly left because that entire time I had a lot of difficulty. The SOP was nearly dead still, never going past 93.75 and even that was high at the time. I sold off some of my best stock including Bearach to Laurel Manor but right after that produced two 94+ in the same litter, so I decided to stay. I didn't really want to leave, but it got frustrating being at a standstill.

Needless to say, I am happy that more are getting involved in the breed again.

My current highest SOP is Kahira at 94.3. Next is Chadwyck, her brother, at 94.2.

My best Keeshond so far was GCH Grobian who achieved 4 Best in Groups, 40 BOBs, and 4 BISS.

I used to breed Keeshonds about a year or two ago. At the time they were a great breed and it is great to return to a friendly community of kennels!

My best is a dog at 94.20, and several females between 94.00 and 94.15, who are have just started breeding or just coming up to breeding. For quite a while I was stuck at 93.80.

I have nothing of my own bred yet to brag about. But I am going to dabble in source breeding too, which I find pretty exciting.

^ That's very exciting indeed!

Will you be focusing on particular traits? I have noticed a distinct weakness in Keeshond traits in the areas of Forequarter and Size - it would be interesting to see if a source bred line could improve upon those areas.

Hi Keeshond people! I've recently returned to SD and decided to join your breed with this kennel. Keeshond seems like a nice little breed to get into. I had original posted looking for a breed to work with specifically in toys or terriers, but no one in those groups said a word. The only person who responded to me was a nice keeshond kennel. (HI Gypsy Wind!) So now you guys are stuck with me. happy :)

This was the prettiest pup I could find for sale, so she is where I start.

Indeed, welcome! You'll find that even for a smaller breed, the kees breeders have always been a chatty bunch - no matter which set of breeders it is in the times I've played the game. (Ive left and come back at least 3-4 times in the last 8 years.)

And yes, I'm hoping to improve some of the "weak" areas we see all the time, while still maintaining the breed standards we need. It felt like time for some new blood in keeshonds, I feel like many of our best lines are a touch more inbred than I'd like to see.

Excited to see a new line started! My COIs are definitely pretty high... if I didn't have a Samoyed source project going I'd definitely start one for Kees.

Did you know?
At least two wins must be a set of three or more points ("majors"), under two different judges; at least one additional win under a third judge is also required.
