Man, just checked and Livin It Up has sired 7 champions. Wish I had been paying attention, could have tried for a merit award. Still pretty cool though. Happy to see his pups doing well.

You never know Winter, he still might get it. I know Way Up North is his offspring and is currently being campaigned. He only needs 10 for bronze right? 3 more isnt out of the question.

He may well still get it I am sessioning one of his sons now - On Wings of an Eagle.

I am in somewhat of a quandry. I have a 95.00 dog with some lovely traits ... but 19.8 SS. Not sure whether to session or keep for breeding or FH. Would love to know what everyone else thinks.

If it were my dog, I would keep him to breed for traits. I've not tried showing a dog with less than 20 SS, but have heard that others have finished low SS dogs.

Keep him! & if you don't keep him then I will gladly take him! Those stats are killer - especially size/forequarter which I am focussing on with my trait breeding. And I would show him too, if it were me.

Thanks for everyones input. Shall keep him and session him.
I loved his stats so much that I had him named and had moved on FHing other pups, before I looked back and realized his slightly imperfect SS.

Yes, definitely keep him and show him. I am showing and breeding my girl even though she has a lower SS because I was not giving up that head. wink ;)

I figure I'll work around the SS. lol

Whoo! Great to see a Keeshond with a 10 head again! I had a girl from Dutch Creek lines a while ago with a 10 head that I was keeping around, until I ACCIDENTALLY FH'd HER... Ugh. Didn't realize until the next day.

Hope she passes it on. happy :)

She is lovely VanIsle - pity she's not a dog happy :)
I also have several lower SS bitches that have superior traits. I isolate the low SS to the dam line and track it to avoid repeat issues, but of course it is always a risk. At this stage some low SS pairings have definitely proven to be worthwhile.

For instance - my recent 95.05 was produced from a dam who has a lower SS - 19.3 in fact.

Hi, everyone. I was wondering if someone has a finishable puppy for sale? I'd like to try out the breed, with the possibility of opening another kennel. I would purchase the pup with my finishing kennel (basic). Thanks.

Thanks for the advice Analeyn. I'll do that. I'm praying to the puppy gods that she does pass the head and not the SS on lol. I tried a repeat breeding hoping for a male but no such luck sad :(
Sorry Ruby but I am just getting started so haven't been breeding really. I do have some litters Sunday and Monday but although I expect good pups, not experienced enough in this breed to predict what I will get.I can let you know though. happy :)
Good luck and this is a great group to work with. I am sure someone can help you happy :)

Hi Ruby! Welcome to the breed (hopefully) I don't have any pups right now but just wanted to give you a warm welcome. This is a great bunch and I know someone will be able to help!

Welcome and thank you for giving this breed a try! I have just sold 3 of the finishable puppies that I had up for sale, so unfortunately I don't have anything available right now. However, the puppy that Gypsy Wind has offered is lovely & I would be more than willing to help once a few litters drop. happy :)

Did you know?
The figure 8 exercise requires the team to heel in a figure 8 pattern either on or off leash. Generally two of the ring stewards will assist the judge with this exercise by acting as "posts", standing 8 feet apart, that the team walks around to form the loops of the figure 8.
