So Drake Creek was indeed right! Crystal Ramsey gave my Break The Ice a Best In Show happy :)
www.showdog.com/shows/breed_results.aspx?show=All+The+Chocolate+34&breed=Keeshond

We lose one, we gain one. No harm done I suppose happy :)

About finishable SOP - I am only sessioning 96.30 and above now. However, that's only because I am limited by session numbers. I think that anything 96.00+ is still finishable, with the right traits and handler combination.

Congrats on your BIS Analeyn.

I shall be interested in what the results look like in her next few shows. I am glad she seems to like Keeshonds though. Very hard to get a look in with most of the current judges.

I am sessioning potential show pups from 96.00 up to 96.35 - choosing by traits, as I don't have anything higher yet. Not sure if I am going to be able to finish a couple of the lower dogs though --- think I am going to need a slice of luck for one or two of them happy :)

Yes, that's true. It would be wonderful if Wesley was sticking around too!

Hazardous Game has sired 22 upcoming litters (4 are mine), which all look promising! Hopefully he produces well for you all, and thanks very much for using him.

Had several litters from my 9.9 coat male whelp.

First 10.0 coat in Keesies.

I bred two second generation 9.9 coats together and they produced this boy - only 95.75 - but full SS. Most of his stats are not great, but I love that coat happy :)

www.showdog.com/dog.aspx?id=14379955&pic=yes&e=e

Unfortunately the rest of the 9.9 coated puppies are low SS. But like this boy 96.10 adjusted sop.

and this boy 96.20 adjusted SOP

Those coats are beautiful! I'd totally keep those boys even if they aren't very shiny laugh :D

Nice puppies, Aussiewolf. I've tried one of your 9.9 coated males against a couple of mine.

Thanks for the specialty!

Just whelped my Hazardous Game litter --- and the low SS bug has hit again, a nice litter, but the two best traited pups have 96.5 and 96.6 adjusted SOP, only good for breeding. Debating whether I keep or FH the boy. I have already got one low SS male, not sure I want a second.

www.showdog.com/dog.aspx?id=14381521
www.showdog.com/dog.aspx?id=14381522

Still can't get a full SS pup over 96.35.

Ah well, I shall keep trying. Waiting for my litter sired by Solitary Walker with crossed fingers. ---- Which was a washout sad :(

He will go up for stud duties when he is old enough. I have a 95.95 adjusted SOP boy, with a 9.9 coat, who will be going up for stud duties shortly.

Thank you guys. I have also noticed that some of you guys have been doing really well in the shows lately. I think I saw a Keeshond took BIS yesterday or the day before. Congrats!

I have a question for you all who are more experienced breeders. I had 2 males born today. One of them has a really low show shine, however, his traits are very good. The other one has a perfect show shine, but his traits are just slightly lower than the first boy. Out of curiosity, which one of these boys would you guys keep?

low ss boy:
www.showdog.com/dog.aspx?id=14386083

perfect ss boy:
www.showdog.com/dog.aspx?id=14386084

The adjusted SOP of the first boy would be 96.10, which is the same as the SOP of the second boy. I'm kind of stumped here lol

Both nice boys, looking at them, your full SS boy is better, or the same, than the low SS in everything -- with the exception of the TNB and temperament (I tend to put temperament last).

Depends what you want to do, and what traits you want to work with, the low SS probably won't show well.

Myself, I would keep the full SS. I only keep low SS boys if they are only slightly low - or have very exceptional traits. But I would see what breeders have to say they may have other opinions.

I wont keep anything under a 20ss myself. I know RNG plays into SS stats, but I feel like its a more stable stat in my lines when I keep SS at 20 in my breedings.

The only exception would be if I got something with an AMAZING stat, like a 9.9 or 10 head or coat, or 9.8 in something else, but that situation hasnt arisen yet happy :)

Hi, I put a boy up for stud duties a couple of days ago and forgot to post him - again ... sorry.

He is the 95.95 adjusted SOP boy with a 9.9 coat:

Did you know?
The two largest American dog shows after Westminster are the National Dog Show (which is televised on Thanksgiving Day by NBC, usually after the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade) and the AKC/Eukanuba National Championship.
